I still have many thoughts about Beta!Reader and Alpha!Simon but honestly... I just can't stop thinking about when Alpha Simon goes into rut when his pack is finally home.

Like, the ease of having everyone around. Everyone is safe. Everyone is (getting) healthy and his body is demanding to breed.

And Reader is freaking out.

You know you need to get an Omega to help with Alphas rut. You can barely take a knot, much less go on for days until he's finally satiated. You know what you need to do.

But yet, you cry.

You're jealous. You can't help it.

You have his mark. You have the story of how he picked you out of everyone. You have his pack. Their scents cover yours, easing into your own like each ingredient added to a angel food cake. Like a sheppards pie during the wet, cold winter. Just as a pack is supposed to be.

And Simon? Simon has no idea that you're freaking out in the bathroom right now, crying and snotting and pinching yourself in hopes that you're dreaming. No, Simon's making his den. Grabbing everyone's clothes, yours included, making sure everything is layered precisely the way he needs. Gruffing as he sniffs your panties, tasting you and him combined and putting it right by his head.

Johnny is laying on the couch, smiling as Simon's scent lavishes the home. Kyle is already chubbed up and can't wait to join, thinking about making the sweet little Beta soak his face before Simon gets ahold of you.

John is the only one who wonders where you are. The only one strong enough to fight against Simon's scent and the silent demand for him to get himself ready for the rutting Alpha.

John forces the door open and cuddles you quickly, seeing your walls break and the tears in your eyes drip down your cheeks. You poor thing. You must be so scared.

"Shh, Beta. It's o'right. He won't hurt you. Won't mate you if you don't wan'. Just tell him, okay? He'll know. He understands. He'll just wan' to cuddle you, sniff you, maybe kiss. The guys and I 'ave it handled." It takes a minute before you're pulling your head back, eyebrows twisted up in confusion.

"Dont...shouldn't I get an Omega for Simon? To help his rut?"

John barks out a laugh, holding you tighter before steering you out to the living room.

Kyle sees you first, cooing at you. Your face heats and you try to look away.

You still aren't used to Kyle shirtless. The ink on his skin—'prior lives', he's told you once before kissing you like you've hung the moon and stars—and the muscles he has. He's bulked up recently, Alphas' way of protecting their injured packmate, and the muscle on him is absolutely deadly.

He's been driving you more crazy than you want to admit.

You've been thinking about taking his knot too. How he would feel. How Simon would react. Would he be jealous? Or would you encourage you both to continue, bond in the way only a true pack can?

"First time with a rutting Alpha, lovely?" His hands grab your cheeks and gives you the softest kiss on your nose.

"Our Simon isn't bad, lass. He'll take good care of you. Of all of us." Johnny confirms from the couch, his smile bright and eyes deadly.

You let him undress you anyways.

"But all rutting Alphas need an Omega. I know that." You're so sweet, Beta. Thinking you know what Alphas want, especially this special case of Alphas you have in your palm. Kyle kisses your skin as more of it is exposed. Your chest. Your breasts. Each wrist. Your scent glands.

Kyle can't help it. He pulls your pants down and slides his fingers over your flesh. He feels your goosebumps. He feels your slick starting to build.

Prologue

Despite the heavy boots adorning your feet, your footsteps are practically silent as you follow a low ranking soldier towards your commanding officers office. Standing in front of the door, you watch as the soldiers shaking hand raises to knock in three rapid clicks. The second your commanding officer says to come in, they swing open the door for you before scuttling off without even looking your way once.

“Ah, Vice. Just who I need to see.” The man behind the desk motions for you to sit. As you do, he shuffles through some papers on his desk, tossing some aside and pulling others closer. You can tell from the fidgeting that he’s nervous to bring up whatever it is he brought you here for.

Still, instead of pressuring him to speak up, you simply watch his frazzled state, your dark gaze boring into him and making him falter even more. He may be a higher rank than you, but he often gets nervous in your presence like you’re the one with a higher rank. You’ve never seen him act this way with any other soldiers, and it sort of makes you pleased. Pleased that you can get a man of authority to stumble.

He clears his throat, finally straightening out a stack of papers in front of himself. “There’s something very important for me to discuss with you. It’s not something you or I have a choice in, unfortunately.” He pauses, clearly uncomfortable delivering whatever news he has as he avoids eye contact. After taking a deep breath to soothe his nerves, he finally looks up at you, though his gaze is more focused on your forehead than your own eyes. “You’re being transferred into a squad.”

This makes you quirk a brow in interest. In all your years of being a soldier, you’ve never really been in a squad. Usually because other alphas would get too territorial around you, thinking you’re trying to take over their squads.

“Why?” Your voice makes him flinch, obviously having not expected you to speak up.

“I’m sure you’ve heard of 141, the task force run by Price.” When you nod in confirmation, he continues. “The higher ups believe his pack could use an alpha. Someone that can take care of them and keep them from falling apart. They don’t believe Price can keep the pack together on his own.”

Because he’s a beta- you think. A beta leading a pack of omegas. While omegas are often the glue holding packs together, they can only do so much without an alpha.

Something must have happened in 141 for the higher ups to suddenly believe they need an alpha.

“The higher ups want you to be their alpha. They think you’re the best fit, along with the fact you’re currently packless. You’ll be transferring within the week.” He pulls his gaze away as he holds out the stack of papers towards you, allowing you to take them. “These are the files on your new pack, along with your transfer details. You are dismissed.”
