Romans 15:4 (NLT) - Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.
genuinely i think the way the education system does grades needs to be changed dramatically. i have never been motivated to "do better" by being given a failing grade. the opposite, actually. getting a bad grade on something makes me feel worse and makes me want to give up and not do anything. when i get a good grade, and encouragement, that's when I feel motivated to work hard.
i'm not saying i need constant praise or encouragement, but I do think the education system has to be kinder to struggling students. being given constructive criticism and advice on how to improve my work will always help me do better, whereas the shame and guilt i get from receiving a failing grade makes me want to give up on school entirely.
It's funny to see Lewis looking so calm and confident in interviews, while we're here trying not throw up thinking about sunday
