Yesterday was spent condensing the G&G manual into notes in my planner, and today is spent putting action to words 💪🏼 Building my interactive word wall for my print-rich fourth grade classroom.

Why I almost quit Teaching
Chapter 2: (Part 3) - (Classroom Size)
One of the biggest complaints as a teacher, mostly elective teacher, is classroom size. I have been a Spanish teacher for 4 years and I have not have a classroom smaller than 35. Mind you, other classes have about 25 students except PE. When I first came into my job in virtual school the promise was no more than 185 students. HA! If only I knew now that was going to be the biggest lie ever.
I was able to receive small numbers in the beginning and then exponentially up to 250 students at one point. I had those numbers at a seven period teacher without planning. I refused to think that is was normal. My numbers were never down and they kept on adding more and more kids to my roster every week.
It came to the point when I knew Mondays my load would be more than 20 but less than 30. I was only able to remove 5 due to documentation. I kept on getting more and more kids. I did not know how to handle dealing with new and old students all at once. I had students calling for a welcome call while I was booked for two weeks in advance for voice exams.
I had to find sometime to fit them in because I could not figure out what would be the best time. I started to schedule 30 minute calls to 15 minute calls because I could not have that much space open. I started to get call after call and could not deal with the pressure. Not only were exams and welcome calls important but also follow ups and getting students to work became something else I hated doing.
