My cool co-worker dropped into my class today to make some jokes and conversation with some of our mutual students. She was making jokes about going to prom with one of the senior girls. They were discussing how to color-coordinate their dresses. I immediately picked up the gag and acted all dismayed, "but, but, I thought we were going to prom together!?"
Imma wear purple and you're going to wear navy. We're going to be soooo pretty together!
She countered with, Are you going to get me a corsage? I want a corsage.
I said, yeah, and I will even take you some place fancy like Ryan's or Golden Corral before.
She turned and asked the girl, are you getting me a corsage?
The girl shook her head, and she almost begged her-- but, you could just pick some flowers from the ground, that would work.
I was like, no Imma go to the florist!
She misheard me and thought I said forest. So then it started on a tangent (a quiet tangent, one which the kids couldn't hear) about how we could make so much money selling corsages made out of pot leaves. Once you're done with the prom pics, you just smoke the corsage.
Genius and environmentally sustainable. These are things I like about working in a public school.
