i have no inkling of anythign about where mr mind comes from, so if there isnt many canon facts about his planet, do you have your own thoughts and ideas about it?
Mela I need you to know I almost deleted this ask by accident and if I did I would have cried.
I have a LOOOOOT of thoughts about it!! In canon we know like... the bare minimum. In the original stories, he was just described as being from another nondescript planet.
But once they changed up the Captain Marvel character's stories when properly introducing them into the DC canon, they changed it so that Mr. Mind is from Venus! Which, I love, personally.
Somehow, even though he ended up the last of his kind in canon, and Venus is treated as a counterpart to Mars, I'm surprised they never did anything with him and J'onn... it's so obvious.
From what I've read, Venus doesn't get touched on a ton outside of Mr. Mind's introductory story in Power of Shazam, so. Time to talk about my personal interpretation. (:
Venus is just. A fucked up evil planet. It's like 800 degrees there. You can't walk 2 feet without tripping over a volcano. It rains sulfuric acid in the atmosphere. Venusians have fucked up and evil anatomy to make up for it, but like, in cute caterpillar form.
I think it's funny, because Mr. Mind would get to Earth and immediately be taken aback by how COLD it is. And when he sees snow for the first time... horrors.
I've talked a little about my ideas for Venusian society before, but let me see what I can think of.
Venusians generally don't trigger their metamorphosis unless they plan on breeding. The moths are huge in comparison to the general Venusian, so it would be inconvenient to have them all be moths when they have such tiny buildings they live in.
Fucked up and evil alien plants they can eat that have also adapted to the evil conditions of the planet.
Venusians were basically obsessed with collecting information from all across the universe, and had huge libraries of it. Since Earth is their direct neighbor, they had a particularly large library of Earth media, which basically ended up raising Mr. Mind after he hatched as the last of his kind.
Venusians have poisonous spines. Because I think it's cool. That has nothing to do with the planet itself I just wanted to mention it.
