Just when I though gin couldn't get any better I realise that it is perfectly acceptable make tea with it! @summerfruitcup aka David T Smith, the author of Gin Tonica and my introduction to gin being more then just a drink, it can be a little work of art too! The recipes in this book are varied and wonderful but I had to start simply. So here is my attempt at The Earl. Earl Grey is my favourite tea but I abuse it with milk, lots of milk, so this felt quite virtuous! I soaked the teabag, this was a @teapigs Darjeeling earl grey, in @ableforths bathtub gin in a seperate glass as instructed. I chose Bathtub as I thought the spices and the orange peel would compliment the bergamot in the tea. I added the gin and the soaked tea bag to a glass with lots of ice, a sliver of lemon peel and @fevertreemixers tonic. The recipe suggests only steeping the teabag for a minute or so but I felt it needed longer, that maybe because it did need longer or I that like the flavour of earl grey. The flavour worked so well with bathtub and I think gin in general, it is perfect alcoholic tea! Or breakfast gin! It is a great way of adding more options as the recipe goes on to suggest there are lots of tea bags that will work including herbal and fruit teas. Glastonbury is the home of weird and wonderful tea so I reckon there are enough options to keep me going for a lifetime. Anyone for matcha, sencha, gunpowder, ayurvedic contemplation tea gin? #ginlife #gin #gnt #ableforthsbathtubgin #ginlove #gintonica #earlgrey #teagin
