thinking of dating Zanka while being the unofficial ‘mother’ or ‘older sister’ of team child.
Zanka regularly hears you calling for “Dear” and turns around looking way too sweet, only to see you greeting little Dear Santa. Riyo and Enjin have seen it happen, and do not let him forget it.
Zanka thinks he‘s pretty good at keeping things romantic, flirting casually under his breath while the two of you are around headquarters. unfortunately, it’s regularly interrupted by either Guita or Dear tugging on your hands for your attention. if someone claims Zanka pouts about it, they have no proof.
whenever you have the evening off, the two of you spend all evening talking and cuddling in your room until sleep takes its hold. it’s rarely uninterrupted, though, as Guita sneaks in if she ever has a nightmare, hoping to stay with you and ending up between you and Zanka. it usually leads to Zanka on the floor.
and don’t get me started on the misconception that you’re romantically involved with Bro, which annoys Zanka to no end. no one guessed you, sweet you, to be dating someone who preferred not to work with the children.
but it could be nice, too, watching him stretch his patience a little further because he knows you’re watching. it’s much easier to get Zanka to teach them how to use their vital instruments better when he can impress you at the same time.
you like to think this progress is what makes Zanka soften up to Rudo after a while.
when the kids go to Hole town and then walk to Canvas town, you’re part of the small team following and watching over them. before leaving, Enjin assures Zanka, who’s still bound to a hospital bed, that he’ll take care of his ‘wife and kids’.
with red ears and a frown, he thanks Enjin without denying it.
A sigh left your lips as you plopped down onto yours and Enjin’s shared bed with your robe on hand placed over your stomach.
You had been out all day due to doctor appointments and you running store to store to find baby clothes because you swore you didn’t have enough.
Then you could hear light footsteps near your door. Then the door slammed open. Dear walked into your room pacifier in his mouth and a lollipop in his right hand.
“He won’t share.” Was all he said with an irritated expression on his face. “Dear fix your face.” You say was he started to approach you.
He sat on the bed legs crossed looking up at you. “So Rudo wouldn’t give you any candy.” He nodded his head, you shook your head bringing your hand towards your stomach rubbing it lightly.
You looked over at the clock that hung over the door. It was past his bedtime, usually he’d be crying and squirming around due to forcing his self to stay up.
You reached over to take his hair down, he closed his eyes while you brushed your hands through his hair.
“HE’S LYING HE HAD THREE PIECES!” Rudo yelled running into the room panting startling you as Enjin followed behind him. Dear opened his eyes and his face scrunched up again arms started to wrap around you as he shook his head no while clutching the lollipop and you noticed a chocolate bar sticking out of his overalls.
“You greedy son of a-” rudo started off about to jump on Dear but Enjin grabbed him by the back of his shirt “Enough, go put the candy away and go to bed.”
Dear pulled the pacifier out of his mouth and stuck his tongue out at Rudo causing Rudo to try and get out of Enjins grip but failed miserably.
“Alright Dear,” you say lifting the small ten year old up and sitting him in the middle of the bed “I’ll get you some candy while I’m out tomorrow.” He nodded his head and laid down on the pillow watching while you got comfortable beside him.
You brought your hand up to his face tracing his freckles. “Goodnight Dear.” You said placing a kiss on his forehead as he just batted his lashes at you and sucked on the pacifier eyes slowly starting to shut.
Enjin was definitely going to throw him in bro Santa room when he came back in but might as well enjoy the moment.
A/n: EEEEE HES LITERALLY Y/N’S FIRST BABY, you guys should also follow my ig I need moots </3 kawacake_
Another day, another clean up mission. Who better to accompany but the tedious and always-locked-in Zanka?
Of course, not every clean up ends up the way you guys wish it to be.
The mission was to iradicate a trash beast in a nearby town that didn't really had a strong protective metallic barrier like the other towns.
While Zanka fought, you helped by distracting the trash beast to face your way, kicking debris aside, calling out, making sure its attention stayed on you as it snapped and lunged. And when Zanka dealt that final blow, jumped high on the air with his Lovely Assistaff, landing cleanly after the strike, you couldn't help but be mesmerized.
"Whoa, Zanka! You finished it with one fell swoop! Pretty sick, especially your Lovely Assistaff." you complimented, clapping once as you jogged over, even went your way to kneel down and smile at the vital instrument, brushing the dust off its side. "Good job, Lovely Assistaff!"
Your compliment didn't much matter to him, it's not like you're the ever-so-cool Enjin that makes Zanka smile like some crazy guy when he hears a compliment from Enjin. But just from you, he felt his heart beat thump, fingers tightening around the staff, and a smug grin with a slight hue of a blush creeping up his cheeks.
"It ain't that much."
Tuesday
You just woke up and you could already hear August's loud voice. And of course that alone made you wake up. He was your daily alarm clock, and so was everyone's.
After you cleaned yourself up, made your way to HQ's dining hall, you saw Guita, Dear Santa, and Bro. The whole Team Child just eating their breakfast.
"Hey there, kiddos. What'd you guys have for breakfast?" you asked, leaned towards where Guita sat. "Chicky eggs and piggy skin!" the girl said enthusiastically. But of course, you were puzzled as to what she said.
"It's just some normal eggs and bacon, with some bread on the side. Good morning, Y/N." Bro chimed in, offered you a seat across them, to which you accepted.
As breakfast went on, you found yourself watching them more than eating. Guita kept swinging her legs under the table, humming between bites. Dear ate quietly, brows furrowed, but occasionally nudged Guita’s plate closer when she got distracted. Bro noticed everything as he was refilling cups, wiping crumbs, gently reminding them to chew.
You didn’t mean to hover. But you did. One conversation turned into another. Guita showed you how she could stack bread slices into a "tower." Dear challenged you to a staring contest. Bro sighed in resignation when the two kids dragged you into a game that somehow involved utensils and napkins.
Before you knew it, you were on the floor with them, laughing softly as Guita climbed over your back like it was a jungle gym.
"Careful," Bro warned, though there was no real bite to it. "She’s sturdy!" Guita declared and Dear hummed in agreement.
You stayed longer than you meant to. Longer than necessary but you didn’t mind.
Eventually, after some time passed, a call came in. Team Child was being dispatched for a mission. Supporters had already been assigned. And you weren’t much needed in said mission.
Bro stood, rubbing the back of his neck. "Alright," he said carefully. "Time to get ready." That was when Guita froze and Dear scowled.
"You’re not coming?" Guita asked, eyes immediately watering. Her question made Dear's sucking on his pacifier more faster as if in such a young age, he was already stressed, and arms crossing tightly.
Bro stiffened. "You’ll be fine. Y/N has work too." But unfortunately, that didn’t help.
Guita pouted openly, lower lip trembling. Dear’s glare sharpened and his foot stomped loudly, the kind that said he was two seconds away from destroying HQ and the whole Ground with him.
Their attitude made you hesitate and Bro noticed that. His shoulders slumped. "...You don’t have to," he said quickly. "It’s extra work. I can handle it." Then, the kids looked at you.
You sighed softly and smiled. "I can come." That alone made Guita shriek and jump in place. "Really?!" Dear didn’t say anything, but the tension melted from his shoulders. He hummed, satisfied, turning away like it had been his idea all along.
Bro stared at you for a second, then bowed his head slightly. "Sorry for the trouble. And thank you." You waved it off. "I don’t mind."
As the three gathered their things, you realized something simple and warm settled in your chest. Tuesday had no missions planned for you.
But somehow, it turned out to be one of your busiest and nicest days yet.
Wednesday
It was the middle of the week. And a hectic one. You were out helping along with your other supporter group. The trash beast that day was hard to beat, and the weather was particularly hot. So of course, it was a viable excuse that you got distracted by the heat and got slightly injured in the process.
No matter, you would be taken to a clinic anyway. But it was a choice between that old hag from the shady clinic, or your HQ’s healer.
For the sake of not wanting to get scolded, you mustered up your strength to make it back to HQ, even with your injuries.
Yes, Eishia isn’t as loud as her grandma or her big brother, but even her quiet scolding could turn into soft aggression when she saw you hurt.
"Next time, make sure not to overexert yourself. Keep your eyes on the enemy, and do bring some extra bottled water with you." Her voice was small, eyebrows slightly furrowed, as her charger-like vital instrument gently touched you.
The zaps weren’t painful. Instead, they helped you regain your strength, warmth spreading through your limbs. And to that, you were grateful that your HQ had such a reliable healer.
"Thanks, Eishia. I promise it won’t happen again." You smiled, scratching the back of your neck, embarrassed at how clumsy you’d been earlier.
Eishia was a good friend, a good healer, and a good sister. Everyone in HQ was thankful for her. And of course, that came with August as well.
"IT BETTER NOT HAPPEN AGAIN!" August yelled enthusiastically. "I DON’T WANT YOUR GLORIOUS, HANDMADE—BY NONE OTHER BUT MOI—UNIFORM TO BE TORN TO SHREDS!"
His yelling wasn’t really necessary, but maybe it was because of his loud headphones that his eardrums were probably busted. "Yeah, sorry too, August. Could you maybe repair the part that got ripped?" you asked, smiling like an idiot again.
"YAAAA, BETCHA!" And before August could leave the clinic, he grabbed onto your clothes as if he were about to strip them right off. Eishia noticed immediately and stood up, trying to pull her brother away.
"August, don’t do that. You’ll rip her clothes even more," Eishia said firmly, tugging at your right arm.
"DON’TCHA WORRY, MAMA’S SECOND BEST! I’LL MAKE HER A BRAND NEW, EVEN MORE UNRIPPABLE UNIFORM!" August yelled back, grabbing your left arm and pulling at the sleeve.
Back and forth you went.
The Stilza siblings were renowned as the best supporters with the most useful vital instruments in HQ.
