Galactic Mikaela

The next of my “Mikaela dressed as a grunt for every major villain team in the Pokemon series” with Shinno’s very own Team Galactic, one of the only villain teams I can think of that was led by an actual narcissist lol. I guess Lysander from Team Flare also counts as one but still.

Team Galactic is a villain team I have loved since I first played Gen 4 mostly because of the scale of their plan compared to Team Rocket or Team Magma/Aqua before them. It’s not for money, it’s not because of a feud with another team about drying up the land or making IGN’s nightmare come true, it’s about using either Dialga or Palkia to destroy the universe and creating a new one in Team Galactic’s image and they are willing to bomb a lake or torture a trio of legendary Pokemon to do it. Yeah, that’s kinda dark for a Pokemon villain team and I love it. And love their uniforms! This is something I feel like I have honestly been growing to love more and more as time goes on, Team Galactic just has a really cool style to them and of course, Mikaela pulls there look off wonderfully. I actually remember a long time ago I once heard someone say that these uniforms were “goofy” and I’m like “really? THIS is goofy? These outfits look cool as hell!” There’s a dam good reason I wore the one you get in Legends Arceus as a bonus for having save data from Brilliant Dimond or Shining Pearl a lot back when that originally came out.

It’s also a villain team that in hindsight, I probably should have gotten Mikaela in a lot sooner because other than Team Rocket, Team Galactic is the Pokemon villain team I arguably have the most nostalgia towards and also Gen 4 as a whole as Pokemon Platinum was actually my second ever Pokemon game. Or at least, second ever mainline Pokemon game as fun fact, my actual first ever Pokemon game I ever played was one of the Mystery Dungeon games! So yeah, Galactic does have that nostalgia factor backing it up for me like a lot of things recently but even if it didn’t, I’d still find there design really dam cool. Then again, all of the Pokemon villain teams have a dam good design to them anyway so I’m not surprised heh.

Fun Pokemon fact!

Cyrus is a known nihilist, to the point where his whole Platinum storyline is a very literal representation of Nietzsche's "If you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes back at you."

But also, in Gen IV, we were introduced to Infernape, who is inspired by Sun Wukong. Wukong's name translating to "Monkey awakened to the emptiness."

Meaning, a young Cyrus with a Chimchar for a starter makes so much sense.

what about the other members of team galactic then? were they arrested?

Hm, I hadn't given that too much thought - as I've said before, admittedly I've never played more than like three gyms of any of the Sinnoh games. So I guess i'll ask, hey, which of of the admins does it make most sense for them to have gotten caught? I want Cyrus to have probably like, one or two of his admins still out and hleping him, wtih it feeling more realistic that a couple of them did manage to get caught - probably while getting caught, being a distraction so that Cyrus could get away. Also obviously a lot of the grunts were caught - depenidn gon their position, though, they might not have been held for long, and all these years later, there's probably some who are beign released from jail.

Og course, that's me thinking of Pokemon jail as being similar to my baby understanding of American jail systems. I imagine in the amazing Pokemon world, rehabilitation methods are more refined and useful?
