The tragedy of Bella and Jacob is within the almost of it all.

Literally reading the books for the first time, I LOVED Jacob Black and loved the two of them together but I knew it was never going to be that way. I just knew that this was a doomed love story and yet, it was there in my heart.

They were almost together, almost happily ever after, almost loved each other just enough to be together, almost, almost, almost.

And had SM not utterly destroyed my sunshine boy (she did the entire pack so dirty!!!!! But especially Jacob, Leah, and Quil!!!), I think there could have been something beautifully both magic and tragic there. He could have been Prince Charming too, so perfect and so easy to love, but not getting his princess...because sometimes you don't.

Sometimes, despite everything, you don't get the happy ending you dreamed of.

But that doesn't mean you won't be happy.

Jacob gets his heartbroken when he's done nothing but love and it kills him a little bit, forced to mourn what should have been. Because it should have been him, Bella and Jacob coming together so easily, softly. Perfectly. But it wasn't in the end and she leaves, she dies for another love, and Jacob is forced to pick up the pieces.

But he's not alone.

Because Leah Clearwater is right there, knowing this kind of heartbreak like no other (it should have been her too, shouldn't it...didn't she deserve her happy ending too?) and showing him the kindness, the understanding that no one ever gave her. And they come together so easily that they never even know it, not until the moment he kisses her and feels that magic again, the kind he's only ever known with one person.

Jacob Black has been lucky enough to have two true loves, the one who didn't choose him and the one who did.

And isn't that a much better ending?

To show that, even in your darkest of times, there's a light in the darkness...you just have to look up and find it. And maybe your dream didn't come true, maybe you got your heartbroken, but you have lived and loved and found a happy ending regardless of all of the pain. There's so much beauty in both relationships, so much to dream about and write about and that woman just...WENT WITH THE BABY???? After DESTROYING him like that in Eclipse (derogatory) she made him IMPRINT ON THE BABY??!?

My man was done dirty but I'm gonna do him right.

Which is how I am both happily a Black Swan (Jacob x Bella) and a Blackwater (Jacob x Leah) shipper.

Best of both worlds. 💖
