Even though she does not regret standing against Team Plasma, and she loves Reshiram with her entire being, the attention that has been directed towards her is suffocating. Hilda feels isolated, seperated from her childhood friends. Dealing with so much being placed upon her and everything that has happened in a matter of months made her feel like she was drowning, it’s why she ran- why she spent two years away from Unova and constantly moving. She may have looked for N during this time, and she spent a great deal of time bonding with Reshiram and training further with her team. But that doesn’t change the fact that her core reason for leaving was running.
She knows there is no getting away from the attention driven towards her. She is, after all, the one who originally defeated Plasma and one of the two heroes of legend. Learning to take time for herself to rest and recover from everything upon her return to Unova is a challenge. It helps when she learns that there are others who have faced organizations at a young age, others who are bonded with legendary pokemon. It’s a comfort, in a way, to learn that she is far from alone after all.
Even so, she worries about opening up to those she loves about her struggles. There’s that fear in her mind that it’s just too much, that what if she is too much?
