Voting this year felt surreal. Even though it doesn't feel like my vote did, well, much of anything here, it was meaningful for me. I went in my ACTUP Silence = Death shirt, worn under my Team Trans hockey warmup jacket with my very trans haircut on full display. It was the first time I voted in Ohio. It is also the last time I will ever have to deadname myself to vote, as I've hit the residency requirement to change my name. I am so beyond ready to start living as my full, authentic self. I've started a series drawing hockey players who break boundaries and inspire. I'm new to digital art, so this has been a fun way to learn.
Kat Ferguson is nonbinary and plays for Team Trans, a hockey team made up entirely of trans players based in Ottawa. They have spoken out about their experiences as a nonbinary athlete.

My body was not ready for that much hockey but I saw my friends and I didn’t fall and I played okay but most importantly I had fun!!!
