The past two or three years had been fuckin’ kind to Guzma. For a guy who’d been a bum since he was 20, he was pretty well off. Not in materials or like, actual money, but the potential for those things. G had hookups. In the five-ish years he’d been driftin’ around Alola he’d connected with all kinds of people. He almost felt as if he had a day job, the amount of calls n shit he took
“taking care” of people.
But today G had come to a realization. He was just a middle-man. A really fucking good one, but still. He kinda sorta felt like this shit was gettin’ old, that maybe he could do something a little more interesting.
He knew almost every dirtbag or runaway in Alola. It was a little different than bein’ a trainer, lot of ‘em didn’t have or know how to build proper teams. Shit, Guzma left home with a Wimpod- who was now a motherfuckin’ BEAST of a Golisopod thank you- but ya still had to deal with trainers. Wouldn’t it be nice to get everyone all rounded up at some kinda headquarters?
But who the fuck would help him with that? One person immediately came to mind, but he hadn’t talked to her in years. He knew Cat from school, she was fuckin’ brilliant. He didn’t know why she stuck around him the first place, but he didn’t have a lotta childhood memories without her. After he started island hopping he sorta saw less of her. Ran into her a couple times yeah, but G always figured she was smart enough to have actually made somethin’ of herself. Probably didn’t wanna associate with a goon like him.
But...couldn’t hurt to ask, right? He pulled out his admittedly dated flip phone and found her contact info. He’d had the phone for a long-ass time, but he couldn’t be sure Cataleya’s number was up to date. A normal person might change their number once in a half decade. Might as well give it a shot.
It was ringing, at least. Someone picked up.
“Is this Cat? Its G. Er, Guzma. From school?”
