Hello everyone! I have a few exciting announcements to make today...

Detolf!

I will soon be moving all four of the hamsters into Detolfs. I have ordered two and they will both be split in half. This is something I have wanted to do since I knew of their existence, so I’m extremely excited for them to arrive and to set them up. This will allow me to really specialise their cages properly to what they enjoy, rather than just having two or three general toys.

Carefresh!

Some of you may have noticed I have started mixing Carefresh (blue for Albert and Bear, pink for Cloud and Cactus) with wood shavings as substrate for the hamsters. They seem to like it a lot, Cactus has even moved some into her tunnels to sleep on! It’s a bit pricey, but if they like it I’m happy to spend the money.

Instagram!

I recently started an Instagram page for the hamsters and it’s doing pretty well! I try to post every 12 hours and so far I’ve been doing pretty well with that, give or take a few hours. I will still continue to post here, but a lot of their photos will only be on Instagram from now on. The username is hamsteriif if you’d like to follow it. (I highly recommend it. 😉)

Ages!

While I’m at it, I may as well update you on how old the hamsters are now. Cloud and Cactus are about 5 months old. Albert is nearly 8 months old. Bear is about 4 months old. These ages may not add up properly to ones I’ve posted before, that is because I’ve recalculated them to make them more accurate. These ones should be roughly correct, although I will never know their exact ages.

Update #22: 20/3/19

Sister? Sister! ☁️🌵

I was just woken up by scratching noises. It took me a little while to figure out where they were coming from but when I realised, I was not annoyed in the slightest I’d been woken up. I turned my phone’s torch on and pointed it at Cactus and Cloud’s cage to see them both as close to the divider as possible, scratching at it while occasionally kissing eachothers noses through the small gap on the side. They were also standing against the divider in sync, Cactus following Cloud’s movement as she went up and down. By far one of their cutest moments together. 😍

Update #23: 23/3/19

Harry Hamster? 🐹

I recently had to change all of the hamsters on to Harry Hamster food from their previous food (Burgess Dwarf Hamster Mix). I wasn’t exactly wanting to make this change, but Burgess discontinued the food they were being given before, meaning I had no choice. Other than Ocean (sister’s hamster) and ‘?’ at times, they’re all being a bit fussy with it, only eating when they absolutely need to. They don’t seem to like it very much at all, so I might have to consider finding another food until I get one that they won’t selectively feed on.
