X/Y Teamlocke (Part 9)
Today, on Teamlocke:
-We’re back again (for the last time), this time for the Elite Four!
-My encounter for Route 21 is an Altaria ( :[ ), level 50.
-lol it literally can’t hit Clefable. NOW IF IT’LL JUST STAY IN THE GODDAMN BALL.
-On Wonder Trade I received a Pancham, nicknamed Pannie, level 1.
-Meet Pannie. She’s naughty and likes to run.
-Just almost got wrecked by Shell Smash Crustle e_e
-Time to change Rotom’s form. Since it’s mainly gonna be for Siebold either Wash or Mow is my best bet, and Wash is (from what I’ve seen) super common in competitive so I’m gonna give Mow a try. It has four weaknesses instead of just one, but I tend to prefer novelty in nuzlockes. Hopefully I don’t end up regretting that notion.
-Having to travel through Lumiose because I don’t have a flyer ughhhhhh
-Apparently there are trainers I missed in the Lost Hotel because I never went in the Route 16 side. WELL THIS IS EASY GRINDING I GUESS.
-Also this one guy had a Skuntank and I felt very bad killing it.
-lol you’re in for a rough time, Swanna. I have a sentient lawn mower.
-My encounter for Victory Road is a hoard of geodude why me
-On Wonder Trade I received a Wurmple, and then I got a Ledyba on the retrade. Not gonna lie, kinda glad that’s my last encounter.
-Meet Ledyba. I forgot to check its gender, nature, and trait because I was annoyed. P:
-Man, Victory Road in later games always has me SUPER nervous. The combination of enemy trainers having better coverage and me not knowing what everyone has from repeated playthroughs makes it the hardest part of any late gen game imo. I’m having to take this section like three battles at a time and then stop for the day to save my nerves. :s
-Yay, I found the halfway point healer!
-”Since our posistions forced our hands, we really can’t say any of us were right.” Calem, Lysandre wanted to murder everyone. He was definitely wrong.
-“If both sides have something to say, it’s best to meet halfway.” HE WANTED TO MURDER EVERYONE. DO YOU WANT TO MURDER HALF OF EVERYONE?
-This is stupid stop moralizing at me Pokémon.
-Last rival battles!
-”But I think the reason we’re alike is because we have so much in common.” Uh? That’s generally how that works, Calem.
-Thanks for the useless Max Revives, asshole.
-lol the AI using Swords Dance against my Unaware Clefable.
-OH MY GOD. STONE EDGE CRIT JUST TOOK RIBBIT KING DOWN TO 14 HP. If this were Gen V or earlier that would have KO’d. e_e
-Time for the final stretch of veterans ughhh I just want to be out of here
-OH MY GOD I MADE IT.
-And now that everyone is roughly the same level (except Mawile who got exp shared into oblivion), time to take on the Elite Four and Champion.
-”You sure you’re ready for this? One more step, and you’ll have to beat every one of the Elite Four or be defeated. There’ll be no other escape for you.” That’s encouraging.
-Since we get to pick Elite Four order, I’m gonna fight Malva first, since she doesn’t really have great coverage.
-Wow okay she didn’t even let me talk to her I just walked up the stares and she talked a little and then initiated battle.
-I was gonna type this out matchup by matchup but Ribbit King literally OHKO’d her entire team with Surf and took no damage.
-Next up, Siebold.
-”Do you think Pokémon battling can ever be worthy of being called an art?” In a nuzlocke where it basically amounts to a bloodsport? No.
-AND THEN HE YELLED AT ME AND CALLED ME A FOOL AND A SILLY, UNSEEING CHILD. And then he started talking about chefs? Dude, Siebold, these outbursts are bad for your image.
-Clawitzer v. Rotom: COME ON LITTLE LAWN MOWER BUDDY YOU CAN DO IT. And it does! Thunderbolt is an OHKO.
-Barbaracle v. Rotom: Now here’s the weird one because I’m certain a Leaf Storm will OHKO, but that 10% chance of a miss haunts my dreams... And a Thunderbolt MIGHT OHKO, too, and I don’t think a non-STAB X Scissor off of Barbaracle will OHKO Rotom... I think I’ll go for the safe route and try out a Thunderbolt. :s And it does OHKO!
-Gyarados v. Rotom: GET SHOCKED
-Starmie v. Rotom: It outspeeds and gets off a Light Screen (this battle may have gone differently if you’d bothered with that before, Siebold) and Thunderbolt takes it down to yellow health. Siebold uses a Full Restore and it doesn’t matter because Rotom’s Shadow Ball is a crit lol
-MY LITTLE LAWN MOWER THAT COULD WITH THE CLEAN SWEEP ;-;
-Next up, Drasna.
-She’s kind of creepy in the context of a nuzlocke because she seems very eager to murder my team for experience.
-Dragalge v. Rotomurf: Earthquake is an OHKO.
-Noivern v. Rotomurf: lol not about to take that Flamethrower have fun Clefable. It did more than I wanted it to on the switch but I don’t really have another option so uh. Aaand she goes for the Air Slash flinch hacks and gets them >:( She doesn’t get it the second time, though, and Ice Beam OHKOs.
-Altaria v. Clefable: actually kind of surprised by this switch, but okay. Ice Beam OHKOs.
-Druddigon v. Clefable: Now, I know she’s gonna be an ass and go for the Retaliate. So the question is do I outspeed and does the Dazzling Gleam OHKO. Given that Druddigon is slow as shit and Clefable’s seven levels above it outspeeding is a safe bet, but I don’t think OHKOing is, so I’m gonna send out Mawile to resist the Retaliate. It does basically nothing, and the Play Rough is an easy OHKO in return.
-I actually took damage that time!
-I’m glad I didn’t lose anyone because Drasna calling my Pokémon and I “simply charming” after that would have been super annoying.
-Fun pre-battle drama: Do I give Nidoqueen the Black Sludge for recovery or the Expert Belt for extra damage? Since she has Rivalry and I’m pretty sure Wikstrom having male Pokémon that reduce her attack, I opted for extra power. Hopefully that works out well.
-WIKSTROM DOESN’T EVEN LET ME GET TO THE STAIRS. HE COMES TO ME.
-Klefki v. Nidoqueen: Earthquake is an OHKO despite the Klefki being male.
-Probopass v. Nidoqueen: I know this one is gonna suck because of Sturdy. Earthquake breaks the sturdy, and Wikstrom heals the next turn and we repeat. He used another the next turn but this time I used Flamethrower. Earthquake KO’d next turn.
-Scizor v. Nidoqueen: Nidoqueen surprises me by outspeeding and OHKOs with Flamethrower.
-Aegislash v. Nidoqueen: I’m not sure if it will try changing forms this turn, but there’s not much of a point attacking until it does so I decide to just heal to scout. It went for the King’s Shield, so I called that right. MIGHT AS WELL HEAL TO FULL, THEN. Except this time it attacked, so I went for the Earthquake the next turn but then it fucking King’s Shielded. :l THAT MOVE IS SO BROKEN. Earthquake took it below half, and even though I’m in yellow health it either has to King’s Shield again (nbd because I won’t get the attack drop while using EQ) or he tries to go for the kill and I outspeed. EXCEPT BEFORE I PICKED MY ATTACK I REMEMBERED THAT HE HAS PRIORITY IN SHADOW SNEAK, SO HEALING IT IS. But then it went for Iron Head again just to make me feel dumb. It’s fine, EQ KO’d the next turn.
-Wikstrom has a ridiculous way of speaking and I love it.
-CHAMPION TIME.
-It’s likely Diantha has female Pokémon, so Nidoqueen gets her Black Sludge back.
-Hopefully she won’t even need to appear, though, because I’m hoping for a Mawile sweeps. I gave him the Leftovers to make Swords Dance set up a little more viable against Hawlucha, who really can’t hit him for shit.
-”I can’t wait to see what you and your Pokémon are capable of now that I know exactly what it is you’ve done already!” Well I didn’t make it through the Lysandre fight without any casualties so tbh I’m not that happy with it, Diantha.
-Hawlucha v. Mawile: Diantha goes straight for Flying Press, letting me get off my first Swords Dance with only 10 net damage after Leftovers recovery. And it looks like she’s just gonna let me get to +6. Finally she uses her own Swords Dance on my last one. And then she used another on my Play Rough turn, allowing me to get back to full health with the KO.
-Goodra v. Mawile: God dammit I was hoping she would save this one. I don’t want Mawile taking a Fire Blast, and idk if I outspeed or if Play Rough will even hit. If it does, I’m pretty much home free, but if it doesn’t I risk losing my best bet against Mega Gardevoir... If I switch I lose my +6, but I could always try to get boosted again against Gourgeist or Aurorus... I think I have to play it safe. I’m switching to Clefable. Fire Blast did land, but it didn’t do much. Clefable outsped (but Mawile is seven points slower so there’s no way to know if that would have worked out, had I stayed in) and he did ~1/2 damage with a Dazzling Gleam, taking another Fire Blast (BULL SHIT THERE’S NO WAY I HIT TWO IN A ROW EVER). Dazzling Gleam KO’s next turn.
-Tyrantrum v. Clefable: Well, Tyrantrum is a level lower than Goodra and has a lower speed stat naturally, so Clefable should be fine on that front. It’s special defense stat is also just barely 1/3 of Goodra’s, so I feel like one Dazzling Gleam should do the trick, but ugh that attack stat... I don’t really have anything that can take a Head Smash and Retaliate with an OHKO, though, so I have to try. And Dazzling Gleam does OHKO!
-Aurorus v. Clefable: Thanks for the good work, Clefable, but it’s Mawile’s turn again. It set up a Reflect on the switch, so it was free. I’m gonna go straight for the Iron Head here, and it’s an OHKO despite the Reflect thanks to Aurorus’s terrible defensive typing.
-Gourgeist v. Mawile: So, I don’t necessarily want to risk getting a ghost type slapped on Mawile, but I also don’t want this Reflect fucking with me and there’s no way a Fire Fang even OHKOs at this point. So Swords Dance it is. God dammit it did use Trick or Treat. I have to switch. I sent out Nidoqueen, and Gourgeist used Phantom Force so I took the turn to heal Clefable just in case. Phantom Force did more than I wanted it to, but the Reflect finally wore off. AND POISON JAB DIDN’T EVEN OHKO. Oh. That’s apparently because Gourgeist’s defense stat is 122. That sounds fake, but okay. It gave me ghost type, too. The next Poison Jab KO’d.
-Mega Gardevoir v. Nidoqueen: So here’s the moment of trugh. The question at this point is can I outspeed a Gardevoir five levels lower than me and then OHKO with a Poison Jab. There’s no way I live a Psychic if I don’t, but the Mawile plan went down the drain and has left me without a lot of good option. I think I have to try. Here goes nothing. SHE OUTSPEEDS. IT OHKOS! YES. YES!! NIDOQUEEN I LOVE YOU. ;-;
-I’m shaking that battle took like half an hour because I spent so much time thinking
-”Witnessing the noble spirits of you and your Pokémon in battle has really touched my heart.” WE DID IT.
-And since we’re being entered into the Hall of Fame I consider this the end of the nuzlocke. Fuck the AZ epilogue it can’t kill any of my shit.
-Okay but how bad is the security at this event if a seven foot tall shady homeless man can just approach the new champion and request a battle?
-And AZ gets his Floette back even though he murdered god only knows how many people and Pokémon to turn it into a zombie. What a beautiful story of forgiveness. :’)
-(Not really. AZ is still just knock off N to me)
-Anyone else remember when AZ’s Floette was gonna be an event Pokémon and then Game Freak was just like here’s gen VII without releasing it?
-Good times.
-Final save file time: 52:26. Six hours less than my White 2 nuzlocke!
