Tbh… There definitely is a part of me that doesn’t want to believe Beth is dead, and the only reason that part of me exists is because it’s the part of me that refuses to believe the writers could have treated Beth/Emily that badly. Yes, characters do have to die, but I feel like Beth was just completely discarded with no thought at all. It breaks my heart sometimes when I think about the fact that she is most likely dead for good, and the creators didn’t even have the decency to play silent credits at the end -let alone give her fans/general viewers a proper chance to say goodbye with a burial or memorial service.
So sure, people might complain that Team Delusional is ‘crazy’ and ‘immature’ and ‘completely irrational and deluded’ but what did they expect when Beth Greene fans had no closure..? I see many other fans saying that they would never act the way Team Delusional has acted if their favourite died. Maybe not, but I doubt it. I bet if their favourite character was treated the way Beth was, and their death was left with as many loose ends as Beth’s death has been, they’d feel very much the same way. They can sit on their high horse all they like.
There is absolutely a right way and wrong way to write a character death, and Beth’s was definitely the wrong way -and for the wrong reasons.
I think what happened was not only disrespectful to Emily’s character, but also to her fans. I’ve had many favourite characters die in the past, and I’ve of course been very upset over it, but I have never been angry like this before -and I think that says something.
So that part of me that’s Team Delusional? That’s not because I’m a hormonal teenage girl who ‘reeeeallly wanted Beth and Daryl to be together and the stupid writers ruined it’. It’s because there’s a part of me wants to give the writers and creators the benefit of the doubt. I still want to believe that a character I related to; one that inspired me; made me feel like I could be brave, strong, smart and independent - like it didn’t matter that once upon a time I’d felt like I wanted to give up. I want to trust that a character like that still means something. I think that kind of character deserves to be recognised, and their demise to be justified or in the very least acknowledged and respected.
And I just don’t feel that way.
So until that happens, I think I’m happy to continue holding onto that delusional part of me that thinks ‘Maybe she’ll be back. Maybe that’s why.’
And anyone else who feels the same is welcome to join me :)
Episode started with Deanna playing the ‘remix’ CD of Aiden’s.
“Somewhat Damaged’, nine inch nails....loud and meaningful....you ‘lost’ or are ‘loosing touch with reality’....about being left alone...abandoned...trying to figure out where or how you fit in....It’s the first song on their CD..The Fragile. It’s perfect..like most of the music used in TWD.
Daryl with Aaron...pointing to the ‘light’ in the distance....with a freaking bolt with the green/white on the end of it.......yep, he’s not forgotten her...
There’s been speculation about Daryl and the woman-who-turns-walker, was ‘looking’ for when he pulled her hair back and lifted her head....Really, speculation..doubt...I have no problem with this scene...he was checking to see if it was Beth....How do those of you doubt it, can’t see that? With all the ‘blonde’ walker-long haired-women we’ve seen?? Some of ‘families’ reaction to them in the cars?? Maggie’s to the one in trunk and then flipping out when she couldn't open the trunk??? Seriously?!
Okay, we haven’t ‘seen’ what they did with her...but to me and other’s ..it’s just clearly what they did...they had to put her in a trunk/car because of reason’s..maybe a massive herd or running out of gas/breakdown of other vehicle.
And now, this is strictly me....with their reactions..I think she was ‘waking’ up...making noises they associate with the ‘walkers’...throw backs to Hershel and Rick..Those that were with Hershel had thought him to be changing....Carl had thought Rick to be...you see the pattern? They think she turned, because they didn’t think she would have to be ‘put’ down, she was shot in the head.....famously quoted by so many haters.
And they couldn’t get to her, for whatever reason, they couldn’t.....so, they ‘see’ her in the look-alike’s...and it just ‘kills’ them inside a little more every time.....
So many call backs....to people and places....Rick and Deanna...he’s telling her they have a problem with Pete...she acknowledged knowing about it...says ‘ I hoped it would get better.’ Rick tells her it hasn't and it won’t...Deanna, “ Pete’s a surgeon. He saves lives....” Tell me that isn't on the same level as Dawn making excuses for the other cop’s, the ‘male’ ones? Because I call ‘bullshit’ if someone would say it.....
Rick is Shane from season 2....Deanna playing the past Rick’s role...but she doesn't want to kill someone because their ‘civilized’...in a civilization. She will ‘exile’ him if she has too. Rick had wanted to take Randall as far as they could, 18 Miles Out...Shane saying they needed to kill him...who knows what would happened if they let him go....this episode, Rick saying ‘almost’ same thing’s then, now.....
This makes what Glenn said to Rick in the beginning even more prophetic to me...Rick had told Glenn...’Their rules, we don’t answer to them.” Glenn, “We are them Rick.”....”We are now.”
One of my favorite parts...Glenn telling Nick...’don’t talk, just listen’ in beginning and when Nick asks him ‘are you threatening me?’.....Glenn just smiles, ‘No, I’m saving you.’ The ‘speech’ family seem to like to repeat was in here though too.....about something bad, in this case five deaths, being on Nick.
Least favorite with Glenn...’People like you are suppose to be dead..’ I took this as ‘weak people’.....something else that has been in this whole season..but Tyreese changing it, saying people like him, they can survive....and Beth, ‘I am strong’......when Dawn told her she was weak....
Please continue reading....
Michonne telling Rosita she didn't want to forget, but her leaving her katana back, Rosita tells her that’s something. And Sasha, heartbreaking...she’s so lost and alone right now. Reminds me a certain redneck that recently found someone to talk to, to be...friends with...someone who understands his feelings of not being accepted.....Does this mean Sasha might find someone too?
Carl and Enid....she tells him, we’re suppose to feel like this....I don’t want to forget..after they sat from running through the trees...and repeating what Michonne and Rosita was talking about.....Carl asked her what happened to her...’does it matter?’ Carl responds..’It does. I know...something bad had happened to me too.’ Enid, she quite something...another ‘teen’ who has grown up is this fucked up world and even says..”It’s their world. We’re just living in it.”, when walkers force them into hiding.
Rick....has just completely lost it by the end....absolute breakdown...he’s even worse then Sasha with the PTSD....will they vote to ‘exile’ him??...I have no doubt, but I think we have a ‘herd’ coming through and he’ll save some asses..making them change their minds.
Did anyone say, ‘you got to be fucking kidding me?!’...when you saw those ‘big-ass’ pair of scissors on the mantle and then the plaque ‘LIVE’?? I know we did....
C@rol foreshadowed her own death when she ‘threatened Sam....maybe by not being tied to a tree, since we just saw it...but really, what would be the ‘ideal’ ending for her? By ‘saving’ a child...we all thought her arc was over how long ago? I think now...this has been set for her....to ‘redeem’ her. She was always loving and protective of children...but ‘The Grove’ broke her...I think she will save Sam...possibly other’s...and in the end, another place will have totally ‘consumed’ her.
Since for some reason the virtual tour doesn't seem to want to work for me right now, anyone else having issues with it? I thought I would just go over the episode from the other night....Spend.
First most of us would think spend, to pay (using money) for something, right? Of course money has absolutely no value for our survivor’s of the apocalypse. So, why call this Spend? It also means to allow time to pass in a particular place; to use energy or effort to do something; to become expended or consumed....to give up or sacrifice....
I find those last couple meanings to be spot on. Our family are spending time here, Alexandria, of course. This is where they were ‘destined’ to be. They are using their energy, putting an effort into becoming what they use to be. Member’s of a society, of this place that seems to be so ‘idealistic’.
But, as this past Sunday night showed us, they are still expendable for this cause. They are being consumed, the ideology of keeping themselves and maybe some of the other’s, alive. And they continue to sacrifice in saving each other and yes, even the Alexandrian’s that where there before them.
Abraham is a big example of that, he put in a huge effort, enjoying every moment, of saving people who would have left him and Francine behind at one point. He was a one man action-hero there for a time. But before that, when he was in the bathroom....that scene just bothered me. He looked lost, or when he looked at himself in the mirror, like he didn’t know who he was...or why was he even here...it bothered me.
And there was the heart beat noise, right before he turned to start whooping on the zombies.....Abraham takes a deep breath...and you hear it...its at the 26:45 time mark..it stops 27:12...and couple seconds later, started again...and the ‘iconic’ line of his, ‘Mother Dick’...go to commercial.....
But I figured it out more later...after he was kicking some zombie ass and ‘taking’ over at the construction site....he was lost, he had no purpose in him. But by the end, he had that purpose, he had a ‘job’ to do again. He had a ‘mission.’
Did anyone notice that the sun behind Abraham, at the end was starting to ‘set’?
Getting long, so under the line....continue to read.....please.
Aiden....Deanna’s son,and the self-acclaimed douche-bag. I have to tell you, he really wasn't, a douche-bag that is. He was young and the gun-hoe type, but look how he was before they left and when they arrived at the factory-holding area. He listened to Glenn, maybe being ‘knocked-down a peg’ before helped him. And I have a feeling that if he would have lived, he would have become more ‘like’ our family than we originally would have thought.
Jesse....it’s hard to like new people, for me anyway. And this character is one of them. Obvious reasons, she’s coming in between one of my favorite duos, even though they aren't together, technically, their together. And the resent post about her being the abusive one, well it does seem more than likely. We know from ‘comic spoilers’ what is in that world....but with the recent almost blatant showing of mirror-imaging...that would be a twist even those comic-fans wold appreciate.
So, that would leave Pete, as the abused spouse and probably the boy’s also. A twist from the comic and something that will be talked about by many, for its ‘improbability’ or some such thing. It does happen, we just don’t hear about it when it’s reversed. Obvious drinker...the town doctor...and seemingly an asshole.
Another Alexandrian....Nick. I've been calling him Nick-the-Dick, but that’s me. What a coward....but, that seems to be the norm for them. Some would say it’s self preservation....but we've had TF for so long, that they just seem cowardly. He whispered to Aiden, “you left them....we both did....that’s who we are”.....Of course the opposite of our family, that’s NOT who they are....
I mentioned Francine earlier with Abraham...another ‘strong’ woman, (does cheers in my head)....then reality sets in....oh no. Well, maybe we can enjoy having her for awhile......they have nothing on her on twd wiki..hmm...another original character for the show?!
Tobin, did you all notice how ‘big’ this man is? Wow....anyway, at first my reaction....him talking with C@rol about guns and teaching her to shoot...rolls eye’s and yea, he’s a dick. And then at the construction site...major coward and looser....but, then they pulled me in. He went to Deanna...and tattled?....No, no wait....oh wow, okay....someone who knows and seen that he wasn’t the right one to be in charge of the site....Abraham is......hmmm, so another one that maybe alright.
Noah....sighs....not a favorite character. No, he ‘replaced’ our Beth, nope...not going to like you ‘ever’....then the beginning of the show...dam if that didn't get to me. His wanting to learn...to learn to ‘keep the walls strong’, dam. And I have to tell you all, his ‘death’ was the worst, most disgusting one I have seen on this show....okay I get that Nicotero is an amazing special-effects makeup whatever......but, fuck ‘really’?!!
And last, Gabriel...I refuse to give him the right to be called ‘Father’ after this episode. The cowardly sniveling piece of excrement.........he left out a whole lot of shit, about himself. Didn't he ‘look’ like he went over the deep end? I can’t talk about him anymore.....I ‘loathe’ this person....
And Deanna really wan’t buying most of it...watch her, she was looking at him knowing he is and tries to be ‘sympathetic and like she will consider everything he said....and now with what happened, the shit’s going to hit...and our family and us are going for bumpy ride again....
And Daryl got his new bike.....dam if that didn’t make my pulse jump....he looked so freakin’ hot!! Sorry, just saying.... ;-)
The Walking Dead: Norman Reedus Says Someone Turns Out To Not Be Who You Think They Are.... here, if you want to listen to the interview. And then last night this was posted by disenchantedlastword..... and no I didn't think of it until re-watching the episode.
And I have had the wildest thought you guys. Seriously wild......Okay so here it goes...
BETH COULD ALREADY BE AT THE ASZ.......
Yes, I know, your rolling your eye’s and saying bullshit. BUT, just continue to read please.
Father Gabriel walks into his ‘new’ garage, church. Walks around, looking and eventually, sees a basket of strawberries. Yes, we all know they are big part of Beth and Daryl...we've talked about this a lot. Right?!.....
Here’s another BUT, who is known to write ‘THANK YOU’ notes to people?!!! In Alone she was writing one, for whoever had been staying at the funeral home, and she wanted to thank them. This is a form of ‘welcome and thank you.’ And who was said to be so polite and made to feel welcomed, to new people when they came to the prison?!
I wrote this post, here, about the possibility of Aaron and Eric going through Atlanta. This is something I believe they did do. And they had either another person with them, or she had someone with her...Morgan or Edwards or another person from Grady. Because Aaron or Eric didn't have time to take her there. Not with us being told they had been following the family for 2 or 3 weeks.
Again, they are playing with time...and time just doesn't match up to what we've been seeing the whole season. So, they could have returned with her. Many of us feel that the time we see and are told about, is off too. freakpool has new post about it also today.
The note on the basket of strawberries was signed by Rosemary..and on the wiki TWD page, nothing in known of her.
Of course, I looked up ‘rosemary’, I knew that it’s a fragrant plant...I didn't know that it’s an ‘evergreen’. It is known as the ‘herb of remembrance’. Later called the ‘Rose of Mary’ in honor of the Holy Mother, the Virgin Mary. The flower’s were originally white, but its said that Mary laid her mantle on the bush, and the blue of it, turned the flower’s blue.
Something else and this falls under one of my Interesting posts...in the urban dictionary...rosemary means bitter rose, though she is far from bitter herself. She laughs all the time and her smile can light up a room. She loves kid’s, her family and friend’s. Rosemary is very sweet and beautiful.
Sound like someone we know? But, if this is Beth, the name change could possibly mean...she has memory loss. But what she does remember is working at the hospital, taking care of sick and injured people. Or if Edwards is with her, they are using different names by trying to hide their identities. A form of apocalyptic-witness protection. And they tell Deanna that she’s his nurse?!
So, maybe she’s acting as a nurse Maybe they all come face to face when something happens, like Tara being hurt last night? I don’t know, I just can’t shake this now. I know we want Daryl to find her, and that could still be a possibility.
And, let’s not forget this...I posted this last week....from Morgan’s walls....15 is important....
