Max:

do I like them: I looooove Max. My favorite beautifully complex and developed lesbian icon. 

5 good qualities: Her wiseness, her compassion, her protective nature, her gentleness, and her ambition. 

3 bad qualities: She’s very manipulative at times, which I love about her character but it is something that could be seen as a character flaw in terms of morality. She also has a very negative opinion on the world and doesn’t seem to think that things can change a lot, which is veeeeery understandable considering the awful things that have happened to her throughout her life but can also be disheartening. :/ 

favourite episode/etc: I’m like really bad at remembering specific Black Sails episodes for the most part but I loved all of her scenes in Philadelphia. 

otp: Maxanne <3 

brotp: Max/Idelle. I also enjoy Max and Jack’s frenemy dynamic. 

ot3: Max/Anne/Eleanor. It probably wouldn’t have worked easily in canon but a girl can dream. Besides…if people are gonna ship Thomas/Flint/Silver/Madi, then I can ship this. 

notp: Max and any man

head canon: Max was an early bloomer lesbian. She had her first crush on a girl when she was only twelve and was very sure of her preferences since then. 

Bonnie Bennett (since i’m assuming you mean Bonnie from TVD :) )

do I like them: I love Bonnie so much. She was the first character I ever really stanned in a fandom way and for that, she will always have a special place in my heart. If there’s two things I miss from TVD it’s her and the Bamon fandom. 

5 good qualities: Her bravery, her loyalty, her kindness, her passion, and her conviction in what she believes in. 

3 bad qualities: Her loyalty (and yep, i’m including that as a flaw as well because she often gave her loyalty to the wrong people), her recklessness, and her complete lack of self-preservation :/

favourite episode/etc: The episodes in S6 after she came back from the prison world. 

otp: Bamon *Sighs*

brotp: I honestly have no idea…..I liked Bonnie/Tyler as both a potential brotp and ship but in canon, they didn’t have much of a relationship :(

head canon: Bonnie is bi and post series, she found herself a girlfriend during her travels and they had a happy and adventurous life together far away from Mystic Falls. 

Katara:

do I like them: I love Katara! I didn’t appreciate her character enough as a kid for some reason but my re-watches of the series as an adult have made me adore her. She’s such a powerful character. And definitely my second fave in the series behind Zuko. 

5 good qualities: Her passion, her determination, her kindness, her refusal to take anyone’s bullshit, and her empathy. 

3 bad qualities: Her stubbornness. She tends to be a little reckless at times (stealing the waterbending scroll, going with Aang onto the abandoned Fire Nation ship, her complete trust in Jet, ect.) She also has a temper. Not as bad as Zuko’s temper but….just look at some of the episodes where she’s feuding with Toph lol. 

favourite episode/etc: I have a few favorite Katara episodes. The Southern Raiders, The Painted Lady, The Puppetmaster, and episodes in the Northern Water Tribe where she challenged Pakku’s sexist bullshit when he refused to teach her.

hi. i was wondering, have you ever seen the series 'black sails'?

I haven’t! I’ve been meaning to for 2+ years, though, since I keep hearing about how good it is and seeing awesome gifs of and meta about it on my dash. 

(Honestly, it’s insulting to compare a lot of shows to GOT. I love/hate GOT for what it is, but, um, its writing is… very rarely good, and it’s almost unilaterally terrible in its treatment of anyone other than straight white men. I mean, don’t get me wrong, straight white men get tortured and killed and have their characterizations mangled too, but not in the same way.)

On the Awesomeness of Sam Hanna

Today (it’s currently March 20th in parts of Australia) is my girl Kraina’s (@teamrebecchi) birthday.  I’m sending her wishes of a good episode tonight that might feature Undercovers Nerds and some good Sam Hanna and Sam/Anna (hey, it rhymes!) scenes. I had wanted to do a highly detailed Sam Celebration post, but my mind’s decided to take the weekend off for some reason (how rude!). I might have to come back and add some things -- and feel free to add your own!

Without further ado, here are just some of the awesome things about Sam Hanna -- in no particular order.

You could sum up Sam Hanna in just a few words: loyal, concerned, caring, badass, smooth, and competent.  But why stop there?

He’s both the OSP’s resident teddy bear and god of thunder. Essentially, he’s what you would get if a teddy bear could both be a source of comfort and then transform into an actual protective bear when needed.

He’s who you want to have your back in any battlefield. 

He has the required characteristics of all fictional Sams in that you’ll never find a truer friend.  

He is capable and competent in all aspects of his job.  He has training out the wazoo and executes it all with ease.

Did I mention smooth? He’s a charmer and a polished talker.  See: Switch, his work (in a tux) in “Matryoshka, Pt. 1,” “Angels and Daemons,” etc. He can be persuasive, with easy assistance from his Dimples of Justice, I imagine.

He’s an excellent teacher/trainer. 

He makes his family life work because it’s important to him.  He works so hard at it.  He loves his kids. He wants to do well by them. He wants them to know that they’re loved and protected. However, he also works to make sure they’re independent (see: Aiden). He’s an A+ role model and husband.  (Anyone Michelle Hanna chooses must be!) He will do anything and everything for his family. 

You wouldn’t blink if you heard the Shaft theme song play when he entered a room.

He makes his bed. Every damn day.

He has no issues expressing affection and sentiment either vocally or physically. (HANNA HUGS! HANNA HUGS! They are the BEST!)

The only thing he does harder than punch is care.  He walks around aggressively caring all day long.  Even his perceived missteps come out of how much and how hard he cares.

I’ll stop there, but I’m sure I’m leaving some things out!

Moment that made you fangirl/boy the hardest: The Maxanne snow scene in 4x08. Also the Flinthamilton reunion in the series finale. I cried.When it really disappointed you: When they didn’t have any Maxanne scenes in the finale. I would say Eleanor’s death but even though that obviously made me sad, I also knew she was going to die eventually from spoilers :(Saddest moment: Eleanor’s death :( And Miranda’s death. Especially with Flint’s reaction to it.Most well done character death: Vane. I know i’m probably biased because I hate him (lol) but I truly do think it was well done. With how tumultuous his relationship with Eleanor was, I think it was fitting that he died partly at her hands. Favourite guest star:Favourite cast member: I haven’t really read or seen anything about the cast members so idk. Jessica Parker Kennedy is beautiful though. Character you wish was still alive: Eleanor and Miranda :(One thing you hope really happens:Most shocking twist: Thomas being alive. (I’m still AMAZED that I wasn’t spoiled about that beforehand because omg). It was a very beautiful surprise though. When did you start watching/reading?: I think…about a month and a half ago? There’s obviously things that I didn’t like (Max’s r*pe story line in S1, for example. That was pretty hard for me to watch and if it wasn’t for the fact that I knew things eventually got better for Max, it might have made me quit watching). But nothing that was done over and over again like on GoT.One thing this show/book/film does better than others: LGBT REPRESENTATION. Also the writing for women. The scenes with Silver and Randall in S1. “You’re a thief” lol.

(Honestly a lot of Silver scenes made me laugh. He was pretty funny at times.)

general opinion: fall in a hole and die | don’t like them | eh | they’re fine I guess | like them! | love them | actual love of my life

hotness level: get away from me | meh | neutral | theoretically hot but not my type | pretty hot | gorgeous! | 10/10 would bang

hogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuff Anne is very loyal to individual people rather than ideas and concepts, and that screams Hufflepuff to me. I can also see why some people may view her as a Gryffindor, and I would definitely place that as her secondary house, but to me she’s a puff. (And I find the idea of Maxanne being a Slytherpuff pairing very appealing). 

best quality: This is kind of piggybacking off what I already said above, but her loyalty and how deeply she can come to love others. Anne comes off as very stoic at first glance but she’s actually a pretty big softy.

worst quality: She’s very impulsive and tends to quickly jump to violence in order to solve problems.

ship them with: MAX of course. Also Eleanor, in the event of a Anne/Max/Eleanor OT3

brotp them with: I have my issues with Jack but his platonic relationship with Anne is very meaningful. And it gives me feels once in a while.

misc. thoughts:

Although I do admire her for her loyalty, I really liked how a big part of Anne’s arc (at least in S2) was about coming to terms with a large part of her own identity. And not just her figuring out that she’s a lesbian, but also that she’s allowed to have an identity outside of Jack. She spent a large chunk of her life allowing herself to completely revolve around Jack out of gratitude for what he had done for her, that I feel like she sort of forgot who she was outside of him. And it was cool to see her regain that, while also knowing that doing so doesn’t make her (platonic) love for Jack any less. We got to see her find herself, basically :)

Her character was also very refreshing for me because she falls under a trope that we don’t get to see very often with female characters: the stoic and badass warrior who has a secret soft side. (And the fact that this soft side is further exposed via a f/f romance just puts the icing on the cake).
