it seems like nobody's posted about this yet, so hey! mr beast's team seas initiative just finished removing 34 million lbs of trash from oceans!
it took them 2.5 years to do - just a little bit of nice news for the day

Open browser tabs to clean our seas, for free. It's that easy. Join #teamseas today!
If you’re still on Chrome (switch to Firefox!!!) consider getting this new-tab browser extension.
Took my rescue Huskies to the beach the other day and they had a blast :D It's one of the many reasons to keep our oceans clean, and why I'll be donating to #TeamSeas with the money raised during the annual charity art sale https://yuumeiart.com/shop :)
This is Luna and Nova~ Luna was abandoned in the streets of Bakersfield CA before being rescued by Milo Foundation, & Nova ran away from an abusive backyard breeder in China before being saved by Doggie Protective Services. I can't imagine life without them <3

I think the surfer dudes from the team seas video are cool!
I dunno if you’ve heard about team seas but like as someone that cares about the ocean a whole lot, it’s a great gesture, it’s a great sentiment, but 30 million pounds of plastic is a drop in the bucket of what gets dumped in the ocean every year. It’s less than gets dumped in the ocean every day.
This new Mr. Beast venture has a nice feel to it. It’s cute. But those 30 million dollars he’s going to raise won’t even undo one day of damage.
Maybe instead write to representatives of the equivalent of in whatever country you live in and ask them to consider new fishing regulations. And if you live in an inland country your country likely still has some power at the UN. You can likely contact your country’s ambassador regarding international fishing rules.
Over half of the plastic in the ocean comes from fishing supples. Drink tap water. If you eat fish consider where it comes from. If you’re worried about the ocean acidifying vote for people that want to reduce co2 emissions and phase out the existence of oil companies that are still spilling sludge into the ocean.
I hate to be mean but team seas isn’t gonna do hardly anything. Keep that spirit up, don’t discourage people from wanting to help, but focus your energy more on the politics. The politics that are dumping your water bottles and fishing nets in the ocean are also dumping them in communities in Asia and Oceana that are filled with trash that isn’t theirs. Metal straws and team seas aren’t gonna do crap about that.
So I asked for a donation team name:
let’s use our collective powers of chaos to help clean up the ocean. I summon Team Tumblr!
One dollar is one less pound of trash in the ocean.
