This one comes from the lead singer/ songwriter of Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service and Rilo Kiley…Ben Gibbard.  Hes got a million projects but only recently started putting out his own individual records because he has SO MANY songs just lying around that either the band didn’t like or doesn’t fit their genre that he wrote and loves and mean something special to him that he wants the world to hear.  He’s a real talent

This particular one is important to me, especially right now.  It begins with how he’s trying to fit a specific stereotype or label as a “bad boy” for his record producer in order to attract fans and publicity and just fit in.  The whole trying to fit in with people thing is something I struggled with my freshman year of college and myself and my relationship have struggled because of it.  However, in the end he realizes he doesn’t need to do this, he doesn’t want to be a superstar he just wants to write music he enjoys for people who will enjoy it and that is much more relative to who I am today, that I don’t need to fit in with anyone.  I have my friends and don’t need anyone elses approval of myself other than my own and those I care about.
