Vocaloid and future tech stuff
So, Hatsune Miku is going to be the opening act for Lady Gaga during her ARTPOP Ball tour.
I can't even begin to say how excite this makes me - not as a fan of Vocaloid or Miku's songs, but for the potential this has to bring more attention to Vocaloid as a whole, and generate enough interest to have Vocaloid software become a bigger things. This in turn could easily lead to the music industry being less of a difficult thing to get into, bring fresh ideas into the industry, and maybe even get some enterprising programmers in on the deal to make the software even better.
Now, I doubt one or two Gaga concerts with the singing robot pop idol are going to change the world. But man, if it generates interest in the right people, or becomes something that occurs more often, then that's really exciting.
Basically, I'm the kind of nerd/geek who is REALLY into emerging technologies. In my case, I absolutely fucking love Vocaloid because of it's potential, the amazing works that have come out of it, and because I'm just a rampaging technophile to the point where this kind of software is straight-up awesome to me. It's a predecessor to actual androids being built to sing the songs created through this software (way in the future, of course), a means of letting the average person who can't sing/can't afford the costs of "exposure" to get their emotions and ideas out there, and it's just great okay. Vocaloid song writers have even gotten jobs in the music industry because of their work with this software (RYO comes to mind, JIN as well, although he's more known for KagePro becoming an anime through his songs created from Miku, GUMI, and IA's software).
BASICALLY I AM EXCITE FOR SINGING BITS AND BYTES AND NO ONE CAN STOP ME. Have some IA to end this all off with.
