Hello! I'm an avid fan of the 666 series and I just need to ask ,,, is there a particular reason why Vox used his psoas muscle in #5 ?? Like did he search the internet for "Best Cuts of Muscle to Feed Your Canibalistic Semi-Dead Situationship" ? Is there a specific quality to that area that he thought makes it optimal ??
I'll take "things I love getting asked because I did actually put thought into it" for 600, hahaha. And thank you so much! I really appreciate that you're enjoying the series!
Yes! The psoas muscle in a cow is referred to as the tenderloin, and the smaller part of the psoas that Vox carved out of himself is the cut of meat used in filet mignon steak. My understanding is that the actual reason for this is because, in quadripedal animals, that particular muscle is not weight-bearing and ends up very tender when eaten.
Now, the psoas in a human gets a great deal more use and exercise than in a cow, and is definitely one of the workhorse muscles of the body, so the same principles likely don't hold true, but... Vox isn't exactly a medical professional, nor did his on-call trauma surgeon learn in fucking medical school what parts of the human body taste the best.
Whether or not he was successful, he just wanted to get Alastor what he thought the tastiest cut of meat would be!
