Why is Petco doing this?
How irresponsible! Leaving these poor pacman frogs (and tarantulas) in these little plastic boxes near the checkout lanes so that some incompetent customer can impulse buy them 🤦♀️
And these are called “desk pets”?????? Have they forgotten that these are not toys or decor, but living, breathing creatures??? And fragile ones at that; frogs are known for having very sensitive skin and being cold-blooded, among other strict conditions like humidity, food, etc. They seriously think that most people purchasing these in the moment would know about any of the aforementioned care necessities?
The Petco I had visited to take these photos took down the label “desk pets” from that shelf near the entrance, but the concept is the same, with about ten of these on that cardboard shelf at the time. Did they think it was too shameful to leave up and display that name? If so, you’d think they would drop the entire, unethical concept and make it much less easy to get a pet! They’ve been doing this for over one month.
I just love frogs way too much to remain quiet on this issue🐸
