Since I'm still boycotting BA but I'm also weak for Sohla content I've found a serious eats video with her starring in it.

In classic Sohla fashion, she decided to take a basket that practically had a set idea of what you should do with it and turned it on its head. I mean taking POLENTA and making A PASTA(? PEROGI?) DOUGH? Brown butter and bourbon to make brown butter flavoured bourbon and bourbon flavoured brown butter? What an absolute legend.

I also want to just leave you all with something she said during the video, "What's the fun in doing something you already know is going to work?" Godspeed and goodnight. this woman deserves the whole entire world

Obligatory sohla is a genius post. today we appreciate:

Conclusion: sohla needs an outlet for her incredible creativity and I would like to see it happen!!! I just want to see her go off the rails! Let her reach her full potential and go absolutely wild!!!

for your licorice question, I’m assuming it’s the same process as Claire’s twizzlers gourmet makes since twizzlers are licorice lol

X Yeah! I watched that gourmet makes episode after sohla mentioned making licorice as 'research' lol (+ some other actual licorice recipe videos)

I'm just wondering what would have stopped her from successfully making the brownie licorice? The only comment is that the texture was unpleasantly gummy so what makes licorice too gummy and how could that (if possible given the additives in brownie mix) potentially be solved?

I'm also interested in the thought process of making a brownie licorice? What would it taste like? The goal yknow? Idk I think it's an interesting concept that I really would have liked to actually see made
