When Ruby caught up with the group, Neptune had over heard that Roman was eaten by a grimm and that Ruby had to take care of it. He also heard that is had crashed some where in the city. Now, behind the scenes the boy had been visiting the villain, technically had been dating the man for months; trying to keep it a secret from his friends and everyone. And on the day of Torchwick’s capture he missed him a lot, but to hear the he was possible dead in a burning air ship... Neptune wanted to see for himself, he wanted to make sure there was a legitimate reason for him to be upset.
So he ran, running off to find the falling ship, to see if he could find the man’s presumed dead body. The boy didn’t know what he was going to do when he finds out Roman dead, but if by some chance he was still alive... he was going to help him; not matter if that was a bad idea or not, he didn’t care if he got into trouble. He wanted to see Roman one last time, just one more time before he broke down.
