I love the integration of technology. Ubuntu + XBMC + Android
I walk into the house. Wifi connects on the phone, and I want to listen to some music, so I use my XBMC remote on the phone to turn on the living room HTPC, (WOL) and transfer the music playlist that I was playing in the car via a stream from my home network to the TV. Nice. TuNeYaRdS.
I want to get some work done preparing for the LPIC-1 exam, so I lift the lid on my ultrabook and there is my Ubuntu desktop. Beautiful. I fire up my virtual machine and am configuring amavis for virus scan and spam checking with a postfix/courier installation on my virtual test server. A window pops in the corner.
A text message has arrived as I am alerted by the MightyText app my Android phone. I click on the same window and respond. My text message is send from the laptop, and I never touched the phone.
The person calls. Ultrabook tells me it is Chris, and When I answer, XBMC pauses playback so that I can speak. I hang up. Playback resumes.
I realize that I have, through my own ridiculous fascination with integrating services and creating a cohesive technological environment, placed all blame on myself for Amanda having become so intolerant of sub-bleeding-edge technology.
