So I replayed the game Hotline Miami... Wanted to relive the 80s kinda vibes. The song is obviously strongly inspired by the track “Knock Knock” by Scattle. Just changed the bassline, added some melodies and tried to work out some more complex harmonies in the pads.
Retrowave has always been this genre that I wanted to get into but I’m still kind of missing on instruments. I got my hands on the classic ME80 VSTs but I’m still looking for the iconic 80s drums sound though.
I didn’t spend the extreme amount of time on mixing and mastering as I usually do. I’m always having problems with finishing a track without sitting hours on it. This short was definitely a nice exercise on improving my time spent during post-production. Always afraid of sacrificing a few good minutes of a song so why not do it on some modest +30 seconds.
