🔥 anything. talk salty 2 me
out. i don’t know that this qualifies as an ‘UNPOPULAR OPINION’ but having you in my inbox inspired me to mini-rant on the fact that FEMALE OC’S seem to have to be twice as well-written and fleshed out as their male counterparts to receive even HALF as much recognition. like?? how the fuck is that even fair, guys ? —- & how is that even a thing in the tumblrsphere, where the words SMASH THE PATRIARCHY are literally pop-culture at this point? what in the actual fuck. ( note: this isn’t hate for male oc’s, but rather, hate for the not so low-key female oc discrimination i’ve been catching wind of on my dash as of late since always. )
backstory: okay, so since SPECTRE came out, i’ve been going on little mini follow sprees here and there, but because i’m not an inconsiderate douchecanoe, i read through people’s rules and about pages, and i’m just —- the other day i saw a rule that said ‘i don’t follow female oc’s, sorry not sorry’ followed up by a link to an ask on the matter that was essentially worded to the effect of ‘female oc’s are always self insert mary sues and i’m not here for that.’ and i just had to stare. i’m not naming names, but this person runs a well-known blog for an oc male in a pretty popular fandom and i’m just —- shocked and appalled? at the hypocrisy?? how does someone create an original character of their own, understanding the time and effort that goes into that —- and then MAKE IT A BLANKET POLICY not to follow other oc’s based entirely on the fact that they’re female? WHERE IS YOUR LOGIC. like, hey, you don’t wanna give their bio a look-over, see if maybe there might be something other than their GENDER to their character? you don’t maybe wanna scroll through the blog some, check out some of their threads, see if you don’t see something you like?? maybe?? possibility??
i dunno, man —- i just look at blogs like yours ( @legaliity ), and @adeloes and @unlikebefore ( who should not be excluded not ever, ever ) and i wonder how someone can just write off female oc’s entirely and actively choose to MISS SOME OF THE BEST WRITING TO EVER APPEAR ON THE DASH, period.
ooc. everyone on that new year, new (the)me ( looking at u, @legaliity ) jive, with all these slick mini-container themes, and i’m just here like, can i do this? do i possess the skills for this? and the answer is probably no. my muse is an html genius, not me, yo.
out. do you ever catch sight of someone you used to play with on the dash and just think, "jeeze, i sure don't miss that shit"--? because, yanno, i definitely fucking do.
---- out. in the space of a single night, @intellectualequal and i have gone from ‘oh hi, you’re so awesome, it’s nice to see you on the dash’ to ‘o m G i hate u stahp’ & ‘nah u totally don’t want me to stop right ;))’
@alexanderwaverly | the thing, where the slipper/flip-flop goes around corners and hits unruly people? chancletazo. the tried and true method of discipline chosen by latin parents everywhere since the chancleta was invented, tbqh.
-- -- out. the struggle when i’m re-reading a series i love and am desperately trying to convince myself that i do not need to make another rp blog i probably shouldn’t make another rp blog.
——out. theme revamp complete. viewtokill gets a big thank you and a lapful of lanky limbs and laptop for being my reluctant soundboard. (whispers) does it look okay, guys? what do you think?
