The cormous herbaceous perennial Tecophilaea cyanocrocus 'Leichtlinii' (Chilean blue crocus) thrives in a well-drained, sandy growing media in full sun and protected from frost in an alpine house. This plant has narrow greyish-green leaves and slender stems with solitary, erect, light blue funnel-shaped flowers with a white centres.

#TecophilaeaCyanocrocus AKA #ChileanBlueCrocus. This particular cultivar is ‘Leichtlinii’. This plant is absolutely stunning and it smells sort of like a freesia. I’ve been so pleasantly surprised by how many blooms it’s put out & it’s been easy to care for. The species was actually thought to be extinct in the wild for many years due to overcollection and habitat destruction but it’s been found in the wild again.
