Short film/Docu: The End
There is a discussion going on in the Deaf world about the future of Deaf culture and what would happen if Deafness becomes cured in the future. Today a short film about this topic from the United Kingdom in British Sign Language (BSL) with English subtitles.
The videos is called "The End" and it is a drama spanning over 60 years. It is all about the "treatment", meaning Stem Cell Regeneration for treating and curing Deafness, and the subsequent decline of Deaf culture. The film follows four Deaf children over 60 ears and it started in the 80s. The future of Deaf culture is unknown, and as most of us know, the preservation of culture in general is important for many reasons, and this includes Deaf culture. How will it go? What will happen? The is a beautiful film to make you think. The video is prouced by Ted Evans and lasts approximately 20 minutes.
