TEDxPortland Tomorrows 2015

TEDxPortland was held on Saturday, May 30th at Keller Auditorium in downtown Portland. The day’s theme was Tomorrows. The whole event was filled with inspiration, fun, and learning new things. Some favorite talkers included Benji Wagner, G Douglas Bundy, Amber Starks, Gregory Gourdet, and of course, Speech from 90s hip-hop group Arrested Development. 

  Portland locals Con Bro Chill served us up a fun, energetic musical experience while the von Trapps soothed our ears with their harmonies.

  Overall, Tomorrows reminded us that in order for a better tomorrow, we must also think about the now in preparation for it.

TEDxPortland Art Show

TEDxPortland and Instrument have partnered for a second year to develop a theme, website, and awareness campaign for this year’s big event. As interns at Instrument, we got a chance to volunteer at the first ever TEDxPortland Art show curated by Jenny Smith (seen in Image3), Instrument producer, and Summer Killingsworth at Union/Pine this last Thursday.

Select Portland artists were asked to create art which reflected this year’s TEDx theme- Visions of Tomorrow. It was interesting to see all the different pieces that were created around this theme, with topics centering around a number of different key points such as women’s empowerment, environmental sustainability, and space discovery.
