When I first heard her pitch the idea, I knew I wanted to make sure people heard it. As I advocated to have it on our stage, through to confirming and then coaching Janine to get ready for her talk, I've only become more excited to share it. Economics become the unspoken, unquestioned narrative that we structure our lives around, and I really locked into that idea when I first heard Janine's pitch. When we assume that we should be at a certain point financially, we're basing it on a series of assumptions coming from a completely different situation, which means none of those expectations are valid anymore. And her metaphor of 'bootstraps' as connected to the different sizes of boots between the previous generation and the next; it's perfect. Check out Janine saying it much better than I can.
