Did your version of Dream always have the sun mark or did it appear after some incident? Also, Nightmare’s injury was caused by relationships with local residents, or is it an “innate” bone structure? (for example, there was not enough magic for a hollow creation)
And did their...uh...updated, enhanced abilities and extra limbs come from eating certain apples, or from their own development of abilities?

Well. First of all, I have to note that their lore is extremely underdeveloped. Buuuut I do have some concepts.
Thing is, Nightmare was actually Corrupted (because of the apples) at some point. But then, someone took Dream and Nightmare and... Uh. Kinda... Did some magic transfusion. In other words, some of Nightmare's corrupted negative magic was injected into Dream. It had some consequences. ...Oh, and also, maybe, then they tried to fix the situation and injected some of their original magic, whiiiich led to magic overflow. That's why Nightmare has a half of his skull melted and some magic f i r e out the hole, and Dream has w i n g s.

yeah dust berrys toxic undertones is often overlooked.
if dust is too clingy or dependant (he's traumatized that's reasonable)
but like... I feel like they'd need some boundaries. at first blue would want to give dust closure but when dust is SEEING him as his redemption? objectifying him to just pay for his sins through blue? that's selfish. that's USING blue for his own gain. projecting him as a way out.
nah uh. that shirts fucked up. put some distance. while on paper that sounds nice and wholesome, it's an extremely fucked up way to depend on people. you don't even SEE them as who they are but what you PROJECT them to be. it can be dangerous.
I think like... blue and dust would be friends but if it's healthy they'll be distant friends. blue being someone he can vent or talk to but NOT PROJECT his sins on. he is NOT papyrus.
