Hi again! I thought you'd like to see the t-shirt I got gifted to me by my friend @kyoukai-kanata I am in love with it and thought that it screamed Brigid! I could totally see her wearing it!
I gifted my copy of the novel to her as we both saw a lot of ourselves in Brigid and Priya. I kept sending her paragraphs of some of the scenes so I decided she needed to read it too 😂 we both love this book! It's still one of my most favourite werewolf novels!
Also I saw you wanted me to ask my questions? It was mostly about Brigid's missing tooth because she loses her human teeth when she becomes a wolf and then loses her wolf teeth when she changes back. So why was she still missing that canine tooth when it was a wolf tooth Priya knocked out? And then of course later in the book Brigid got that human tooth back so my question was answered. I just got confused because the human teeth fall out to be replaced by wolf ones, so if she lost a wolf tooth while a wolf when she became human it shouldn't have still been missing as it wasn't the human tooth Priya knocked out? Does that make sense? Also you're the first author I've seen to actually question werewolf transformations because most of it is skipped over in novels or explained in some detail or they have human teeth lengthen and change into wolf teeth, but this makes a lot more sense. It's almost like a horrifying way of us losing our milk teeth for adult teeth.
And I've talked about teeth too much now. But yeah when she got the tooth back I felt like my question was answered but I still wanted to ask you as you said I could. Thank you!
Yes, I love this shirt and I love this question!!! Brigid references it a little when she's explaining things to the group toward the end of the book, but here's how it works:
Basically, when Brigid turns, her wolf teeth push her human teeth out of her mouth, so you've got wolf teeth. Brigid's human teeth are actually nested inside her wolf teeth - so when she turns back, the outer - wolf - tooth melts into a paste that she can spit out, and her human teeth are inside. So, wolf teeth push out human teeth -> wolf teeth melt into human teeth -> new wolf teeth push out those human teeth, and the cycle continues.
So when Priya knocked out Brigid's wolf tooth, she also knocked out the human tooth inside that wolf tooth, so Brigid was missing a tooth until after the next time she turned, and the teeth were all replaced! I hope that makes sense.
I spent a lot of time figuring out the ins and outs of werewolf biology, so thank you for asking, and thank you for reading and sharing! <3
