"What do you need?"
Michael didn't need to look up from his hands to know Sebastian was leaning against the foorframe to their bedroom. That he was ready to give Michael space the moment he asked for it. He was always attune to what Michael needed, but he always made sure to confirm it, and Michael loved him it. It was one of the million little things that made him love Sebastian.
Michael just shrugged for a moment, knowing Sebastian would give him time.
He didn't really know what he wanted or needed right now.
Everything seemed to big, too overwhelming for words, and Michael didn't know how to deal with the storm that raged inside him. This wasn't something could go on a run for and feel better about or hit the gym to work the emotions out. It was more complex than that.
Grief, even over losing a friendship that had always been there, was a complicated and messy thing and Michael felt it's weight like a brick on his shoulders.
Yet when he thought of ways to lighten that load, about what made everything bearable and understandable, it was Sebastian. Sebastian who had a way of being exactly what Michael always needed or knowing exacty what to say.
In the wake of everything happening with his and Daniel's friendship, Sebastian was what he needed to feel sane.
"You", Michael whispered, looking up from his hands with a little sad smile, "I need you"
Sebastian didn't answer, but he was by his side within seconds. His arms wrapped around Michael and it felt as if Michael was warm for the first time since the fight. He felt safe, and loved, and he felt at home. Those feelings settled in his bones as Sebastian kissed his forehead, his weight in Michael's lap a welcome one as Sebastian held him so carefully.
"I know nothing I say can fix this, but you always have me, Michael", Sebastian reassured, placing soft kisses across his cheeks, "My heart is yours. I am yours, always"
Michael didn't say a word.
He just wrapped his arms tightly around he other, craddling him close and burried his head in Sebastian's shoulder where it felt safe.
Things would heal with time, but with Sebastian by his side, Michael felt that grief lessen just a little bit.
