Moments 1
Moments
“You are not naming one of them that.” Gannen said, while pacing outside the tent. Vancha was sitting on the hard ground outside of the large tent. He continue to watch Gannen to pace back and forth. Vancha and Gannen had spent a lot of time together in these past months. With very shaky peace between the Vampires and the Vampaneze and Evanna’s pregnancy. The brothers were spending more time with one another than in centuries. Vancha let Gannen make a few more passes before deciding to speak. “Well, we didn’t consider names before now so we need to make decisions.” Vancha said, “So let’s try and decide before their born.” “But January February?” Gannen said exasperated. “Yes, it’s funny,” Vancha continued,” because the name I go by is March.” “It is not funny.” Gannen argued. The pair had been with her when she went into labor, after having a spell cast near them one of the assistants rushed them out of the tent. The brothers had been outside for most of the night just waiting, or bickering about names. Gannen sat down and began rubbing his temples, before looking up. “We are not ready to be parents.” Gannen stated. “We can agree on that. “ Vancha laughed. The tent flap opened and one of the assistants walked out, and towards the two men. Bot stood when she approached them. “The children are about to be born, if you’ll both follow me.” Morag said, and started back toward the tent. The pair followed her into the tent and waited in the main area. Morag turned and faced them “Stay in this room, if you hear screaming try not to rush in.” Morag explained, “I’ll bring them out afterwards.” She turned and walked into another section of the tent. Vancha sat on the floor and watched Gannen continue his paces from earlier in the evening. Every now and then there would be an ear-piercing scream throughout the tent. Causing both of the men to flinch. Most of the night went on with this pattern. Gannen pacing, the screams, and then the flinching. Vancha was shaping one of his throwing stars, when he noticed Gannen stopped out of the corner of his eye. He faced the back of the tent. After a few moments a baby’s cry. Both rushed towards the entrance at the back of the tent. Morag came out with a small bundle in her arms. She watched as the two creatures of the night seemed unsure of what to do. “It’s a girl, now if one of you will hold out your arms I’ll hand her over. Morag said pleasantly. Vancha held out his arms and Morag placed the tiny girl there. Gannen came closer to look at his daughter. “Support her head.” She said, before going back to the other room. Gannen and Vancha were enamored with the newborn girl, she was tiny with a tinge of purple to her skin. Gannen ran his knuckles down her cheek careful not to cut her with his claws. Vancha ran his hand over her hair. He moved sit down all while keeping his eyes on his daughter. Gannen was now holding the little girl’s hand. “She has quite grip.” Gannen remarked. “Still thinking of naming January February? “Yes.” Vancha said, not looking up. “There is no stopping you on this is there?” “Nope.” Vancha replied, “She opened her eyes.” The little girl had dark eyes, and blearily looked at the world around her. She looked up at the two men. “Hi, Little One were papa. Vancha cooed to the newborn. “Papa sounds nice.” Gannen whispered. “I guess January is not a bad name.” “You’re agreeing to it.” Vancha said shocked. “Since there are going to be two of them, I rather have names than saying “baby” all the time. He explained. “Is that your name January,” Vancha said to the child, he put his hair to close to her free hand. January just wanted to grab what came in to the line of her sight and now had a tight grip on her papa’s hair. “You’re right she’s got a strong grip alright.” Vancha said trying to pry his hair away. “I have to remember to tie my hair back.” Gannen said quietly. Neither of the men notice Morag step into the tent and approach them, they were so absorbed by their daughter. She waited by them for a moment or two, before announcing her presence to them. “I have your son.” She said drawing their attention from their daughter. Gannen stood up and took the boy from her. He could feel his heart racing as he held the child to his chest. “Relax he’s not going to eat you.” “Hello, tiny one. “Gannen whispered to his son. The little boy had red hair of the Vampaneze, and a slightly darker purple than his sister. But they shared the same dark eyes. His eyes were open and seemed determined to see as much of the world as he could. As Gannen sat down with him, part of Gannen’s hair fell into the reach f the boy’s hand. “Must tie my hair back.” Gannen whispered again. Gannen was sitting beside Vancha to allow him to see the boy. Vancha reached over and petted the boy’s hair. Gannen ran his knuckles down his son’s face and couldn’t stop looking at him. He loved the attention his was getting from both of his father’s. “You never told me what name you picked out?” Vancha asked curiously. “I guess I never did.” Gannen said, looking between his children. “So?” Vancha prompted. “Calin.” Gannen said quietly. “It’s a nice name,” Vancha said, “Why not give it to him.” Gannen looked down at the boy who was now trying to mouth Gannen knuckle. “Do you like the name Calin?” The tiny boy just kept trying to mouth his father knuckle.
