I decided to draw TekShod yesterday since despite being a multi and selfshipper, this ship holds a special place for me since it was my first Dark Crystal ship and these two still work so well together to me:)

My SkekTek, SkekShod and TekShod Headcanons

As TekTih & ShodYod, as they helped Aughra with her observatory, they developed a kinship with her that survived the loss of their memories after the split.

It was also as UrSkeks that they first developed a bond with each other. Even though they didn't remember much from before the split, they still felt an affinity towards each other after the split. But, their romantic attachment many trine later. Although many people were surprised they weren't a couple sooner.

Both SkekTek & UrTih are knowledgeable in all areas of science known to Thra, but they still have their specializations. SkekTek's specialties are physics & biology. UrTih's areas of expertise are chemistry and earth sciences.

Likewise, SkekShod & UrYod are both proficient in mathematics, but they have different specializations.SkekShod's area is practical math, such as financial math & geometry. UrYod's specialty is solving impossible theorems and creating mathematical puzzles. They both know all areas of scientific math to assist SkekTek & UrTih in their labs, as well.

Since SkekShod has always liked gemstones, she often accompanied SkekTek & Aughra on their nature expeditions in order to collect them.

After SkekShod was beaten by SkekSo, SkekTek developed a hatred for SkekSo that stayed with him forever.

SkekTek not only performed brain surgeries on SkekShod, he also asked her mathematical questions in order to gain her knowledge back somehow, as well as helping her with her speech patterns. Due to her PTSD, SkekShod would have frequent nightmares and SkekTek would comfort her. Her nightmares did eventually stop thankfully, but she still had to live with PTSD her whole life.

SkekTek & SkekShod both like animals and they share care responsibilities for the animals in the lab.

UrTih & UrYod also liked animals, so they had animals to take care of as well.

UrTih enjoyed discussing mathematics with UrYod over a glass of tea. The convos could be hours long. They also created math puzzles a lot as well.

Even though they had to publicly shun Aughra, SkekTek & SkekShod secretly met with her. They were found out eventually & were told on pain of death to stop meeting with her. It was only after SkekStyx's birth that they rekindled their friendship with her.

Due to the constant bullying SkekShod received because of her low rank, SkekTek is very protective of her. When it comes to SkekShod, he's not even afraid of SkekSo.

Skekshod felt betrayed by her brother SkekVar, since he sided with SkekSo. Also, he was one of her biggest bullies. After SkekSryx was born and SkekVar chose to be a good uncle, she decided to forgive him and reform their sibling bond. SkekTek still didn't trust him, though, since SkekVar was still close to SkekSo.

On the other hand, SkekShod got along quite well with her sister, SkekLach. SkekLach's dark sense of humor never failed to make her laugh. Also, SkekLach was another person besides SkekTek that SkekShod could talk freely to. SkekLach protected her from bullying too, including when it's SkekVar doing the bullying.

SkekTek got along well with both of his siblings, SkekOk and SkekLi. He obviously had SkekOk document his science experiments, as well as any scientific theories he had. They both enjoyed going through the various science books in SkekOk's library, especially the ones that they co-authored together. SkekTek loved SkekLi's jokes, especially when they poked fun at SkekSo. He didn't always like her pranks, though. Her missed her after her banishment.

Due to being bullied for his physical weakness, SkekTek had major self-esteem issues and always felt like he had to prove himself to the other skeksis. What kept him sane through all this was SkekShod. She always knew what to say to help him.

The moment they started to realize they had feelings for each other was right after the peeper-beatle incident. Skekshod was horrified and angry that they would do this to him after what he did for them. Now that SkekTek had PTSD too, she found herself comforting him through his nightmares, to the point of sharing a bed, which they'd never done before. The close physical contact made them realize that they don't just have a platonic bond.

When SkekSil gifted SkekTek the gruenak slaves, SkekShod saw it as suspicious. After she mentioned her suspicions to SkekTek, he decided to set them free.

Surprisingly, SkekShod enjoyed SkekEkt's company, considering SkekEkt's close relationship to SkekSil. What started this was SkekShod's desire to wear her collected gemstones on her clothing. SkekEkt, ofc, was the one to stitch said gemstones onto SkekShod's clothing. The friendship deepened after they both became mothers, and they noticed their respective children got along.

SkekTek & SkekShod didn't trust SkekSil after the peeper-beatle incident. The only thing that changed that was SkekSil protecting SkekStyx from SkekSo. As well as SkekStyx getting along with SkekSil & SkekEkt's daughter.

On the topic of parenthood, SkekTek and SkekShod were more scared than usual upon finding out about SkekShod's pregnancy. Ofc, they weren't afraid of being bad parents. The problem was that since they were low-ranking skeksis & were subject to bullying, the baby would also possibly be bullied as well. Also, they genuinely thought that SkekSo would want to kill the baby because of seeing it as a threat because of SkekShod speaking out against him, despite the "no skeksis shall kill another skeksis" rule.

SkekStyx's birth helped SkekTek & SkekShod's respective self-esteem and self-worth issues with SkekShod referring to her son as "her greatest treasure" :)

I decided to draw TekShod but older and similar to their canon appearances instead of my rendition of them younger. This is my first time drawing their carapaces and neck ruffles too.
