His father's shaving mirror. He took it with him when he joined the Tevinter army, and has carried it with him since. Of the few belongings he took the time to grab when he deserted, that was the first. He's managed to keep it in decent shape, despite all the travel and such, and he still uses it.

      He hadn’t fought against the guards, against the accusatory glares         and the hands at his wrists to disable him.  He hadn’t argued against         their need to separate him from his staff and their need to keep a         hand over his mouth.  He expected all of this in one way or another.
