Twenty million Belize dollars – that is the amount that is currently owed to Belize Telemedia Limited.  According to its Chairman, Mark Lizarraga, as huge as that figure is, it is thirty million dollars less than when he took office in 2020. The national telecommunications provider is now hoping that it can work with the public to collect the outstanding fees which can be used to improve its services and expansion projects.

World Telemedia Amsterdam runs from 16th-18th October, as some of the most influential experts in the industry get together to discuss the topical issues surrounding telemedia. txtNation's CEO, Michael Whelan will be attending with CBDO, Danny Marino.   As more consumers are using their mobiles, tablets, games consoles, netbooks and telephones to interact with advertising and media, revenues from this form of communication are showing encouraging signs of renewed growth.

OTT is threatening operator revenues. Ovum said in 2012 that impact of OTT players will cost operators $23 billion in SMS revenues in 2012, and that figure is expected to rise to $54 billion in 2016. We have argued that one way for operators to effectively combat this threat is to partner with OTT players, and in the past few months partnerships have begun to emerge between operators and social messaging players. Meanwhile, Juniper Research on Wednesday said by offering carrier billing to third-party storefronts, operators could more than offset the continued decline in portal revenues. Storefronts which have already integrated carrier billing solutions have seen a 5-6x increase in conversion rates compared with credit card billing, together with an uplift in average transaction values.
