Tell Me Everything || Blaine & Sophia

Sophia had been so busy between buying all of her Christmas gifts and trying to plan a wedding. She hasn’t really stayed in the loop with Blaine. She heard from nurses more or less what was going on and she felt terrible about it. She finally had a day off and the kids were with Nate so she decided to go see her brother. He was finally home from the hospital which she was thankful for. She stopped at Starbucks on her way to his house and got them both a little something to stay warm. When she arrived she got out of the car and walked up to the door. She rang the bell and waited for someone to come to the door.

Stop everything! John Fugelsang, a Drama League-nominated actor, comedian &  host of Tell Me Everything on SiriusXM, is one thought-provoking, gracious, informed, intelligent, sexy liberal! And boy did fill the hour with passion and hope. 

With informed insight, John offered us tools when dealing with the maga faux Christian right, which will be expounded upon in his upcoming book, Separation of Church and Hate: A Sane Person's Guide to Taking Back The Bible from Fundamentalists, Fascists, and Flock-Fleecing Frauds, which will be published this August by Simon & Schuster. 

We talked this election, John and my belief, or disbelief, I should say. We talked 47, Musk, RFK Jr, Bush, Clinton, Sanders, Obama, Kamala, Vance… there’s meat on these here bones. 

The son of a nun and a Franciscan brother, quite the story in itself (and John tells it so well), his break from traditional religion at a very early age and his reason for it, which I found particularly compelling, how he got started in the business of show, first making money at it at the ripe young age of eleven. How stage took him to stand-up, and then interviewing. Hearing about what he describes as hs novice 4 hours with George Harrison, where George played on air for the last time, four songs he’d never played on air, and then jetting off to London the next day to interview Paul. Oh my lord! 

We rounded out the hour discussing our mutual passion for Bob Dylan, John’s 60+ concert experiences greatly different than my one. Our mutual love and admiration for A Complete Unknown, John’s certainty that Timothée will garner an Oscar, and perhaps Edward Norton as well. Me, not so much, even after voting for both of them for SAG Awards today. 

John is a funny, provocative, thrilling conversationalist. I had a spectacular time in his good company. I highly recommend giving this a watch as an antidote to the current crazy.

Today LIVE with John Fugelsang, one fine, tall drink of water. Postponed during the LA fires, we're doing this thing. 

John's a Drama League-nominated actor, comedian & broadcaster who hosts the acclaimed Tell Me Everything series on SiriusXM Progress #127. A political satirist, John has one of the most eclectic resumes in the business. His mother is an ex-Nun, and his father was a Franciscan Brother. His Drama-League-nominated Off-Broadway solo show, All The Wrong Reasons, was based on their love story & he was named Outstanding NY Monologist by MAC at Lincoln Center. 

Separation of Church and Hate: A Sane Person's Guide to Taking Back The Bible from Fundamentalists, Fascists, and Flock-Fleecing Frauds, John’s first book, will be published this August by Simon & Schuster's Avid Reader Press.

In the same week, he interviewed Paul McCartney in London and George Harrison in New York. Say what?!? He’s been featured on CNN, Fox News, PBS, Air America, CNBC & was a regular on HLN's The Joy Behar Show. 

John hosted the live political talk show Viewpoint for Current & helped launch the syndicated pop culture comedy series Page Six TV to record ratings in syndication. 

Other credits include America's Funniest Home Videos, Becker, Providence, The Girl On The Train, Somewhere In the City, The Whole Truth, Maggie Black, & the award-winning Coexist Comedy Tour.  Under heavy aging makeup, he appeared on The Onion News Network on IFC.

Perhaps most importantly, he appeared in my living room, at Women Who Write, back in 2011, and the photo on his Wiki page marks that fact. I love that. 

John’s interviewed the creme de la creme of rock stars, politicians, actors, comedians, sports heroes, and humanists. I’m thrilled to turn the microphone on him. Whip-smart and hysterically funny, it doesn’t hurt that he’s crazy easy on the eyes.  Can’t wait for his take on what we’re about to be dragged into.
