New Temperance collage!!!
Number one oomfie ever (ily <3<3<3) convinced me to try photobashing!!! Anywho!!! Temperance before and after the incident!!!
A little background on the Marshall family:
They all are from New Orleans, Ethel and Esmond run a very successful bar in the French Quarter near Bourbon Street. All the kids help clean up or otherwise once they're old enough to have a job, and when they're old enough to serve liquor, they do that too.
It's stable money. The tabs go to the business itself, but the tips they get to keep as their own. Luckily for Tempe, this means she had a good job when she was home from school during the summer.
In more recent years, Ames and Prudence have taken over running the bar mostly by themselves. Connie helps out a lot too, but she is trying to do other things.
Bellamy can't really help, given his situation with the IPAT3, and Temperance is all the way up in Gotham, so she also can't really help.
I think that they live in a pretty sizable place, lots of bedrooms and the like. It's nothing fancy, but they all have their own space, which is more than enough. Prue likes to tend to the flower beds in the front, keeping them looking nice. They have a porch with a little porch swing that Temperance likes to read on, Prue usually joining her.
Bellamy and Tempe are menaces in the city together as kids, later joined by Prue and Ames, but Prue is a bit too nice to be a menace and Ames just minds his own business.
They're sorta latchkey kids, always running around until the sun goes down and they have to be home.
In school, Tempe protects Prue, since Prue is quite the target for bullying due to her shy and bookish demeanor. Ames later becomes a target too, once he comes out. Tempe didn't come out until college.
The siblings personalities are as follows:
Temperance is pretty bold, honestly. She's quippy and wholly herself. She is deeply loyal to a fault. She behaves almost like a guard dog to her loved ones. She's also very rash and paranoid. When her thoughts begin to spiral, she cuts them off, ignoring them entirely. She is insanely compartmentalized.
Bellamy is laid-back and doesn't like to get into other people's business. He prefers to keep his head down and lay low. He dislikes authority figures (ironic) and is very blunt. He's also secretly extraordinarily funny and enjoys bantering with Tempe.
Ames is quiet. It's not that he doesn't have things to say, he just lacks the energy to actually say them. He doesn't think much of most people, preferring to stay in his own head. He loves Prue to death. He's extremely dependable and does things without complaint.
Prue is bookish and quiet. She's almost mouse-like in nature. She's insightful, but doesn't know how to stand up for herself. She usually goes with the flow. Prue is very introverted and definitely a wall-flower. Prue is probably the most responsible of all the siblings.
Connie is very opinionated and outspoken. If Connie doesn't like something, you will be hearing about it. She makes her disdain for others very known. She thinks fast on her feet and has a comeback for everything. She's considered the "meanest" of the siblings, but it's mostly a defensive mechanism. She's actually really loyal as well and has an extreme sense of justice.
Connie really doesn't like Temperance for a long time. She thinks she's fine when she's really young, though she's jealous of her and Sofia's relationship. As she grows, Bellamy slowly begins to push her away from Tempe, citing Tempe as a "bad influence" and turning her away from her. Connie views Tempe as the reason Bellamy is no longer able to visit as often or live with them or otherwise and she's so mad about it.
Prue is frequently very depressed about the direction all of her siblings and their lives have gone in. Prue just sorta works at the bar with Ames and keeps the family afloat. Her and Tempe were really close, but she feels distanced from her now.
Ames is also rather depressed, but more of an apathetic type. He tries to not care about anything at all, because that's what keeps him sane. He's stoic, doesn't give much away. He thinks he's doing the right thing for Prue, but all Prue wants is for him to acknowledge how much all of this sucks.
Bellamy used to be Tempe's best friend, but after he got sent to work for the IPAT3, he sorta blames her for ruining his life. He basically forces their parents into letting him make all the decisions for Connie from that point forward so she doesn't turn out to be like Temperance. Connie doesn't know this, however, she just thinks that their parents are being overly controlling. One can only imagine how she'll feel when her favorite sibling turns out to be the one who caused her all this undue hardship...
All of the Marshall family is so fucking tall.
Like, Temperance is 5'10, Bellamy is 6'0, Ames is 6'4, Prudence is the shortest at 5'6, Constance is 6'1, their mom, Ethel, is 5'9, and their dad, Esmond, is also 6'4.
Literal giants just walking around NOLA.
Thinking of changing The Disciples of Maria Goretti to just The Disciples... I think that will be the case from here on out...
Very much think every Disciple has a tattoo reading "ENLIGHTENED" somewhere on their body. Temperance's is on her right outer ankle and Sofia's is on the right side of her ribcage.
Teehee, Tempe and Sofia getting together scene! They are both in their early 20s here! This is before Sofia gets taken to Arkham. Second-person POV jumpscare warning.
"My dad was, like, sooooooo worried I was gonna grow up to be some weirdo freak that he sent me to cotillion."
"Oh? And how did that turn out for him?" you say, looking up from the bowl of batter toward her.
She gasps, feigned shock, "How rude!"
You laugh at her undignified expression.
"Dude, all I'm saying is that you're standing in my kitchen baking brownies on a Friday night instead of... oh, I dunno, doing literally anything else?"
She comes closer to you, dipping her fingers into the bowl of batter before bringing them up to her mouth.
"You little asshole!" You exclaim. She smiles around her fingers, teeth biting down against them gently.
They come out lightly coated in spit and she wipes them on the side of her shirt—your shirt, more like, that she stole from your dresser.
"What can I say? I like you," she responds, relaxing, leaning against the counter.
"Flattery gets you everywhere, Sofia."
"Yeah, I know, thats why I'm here in the first place, isn't it?"
It's your turn to scoop out a finger full of batter, sticking it into your mouth. She watches shamelessly, her eyes studying you. Your fingers leave your mouth and you wipe them on the side of your shirt.
"No, you're here because I like you too, Sof."
She takes the bowl from your arms and places it on the counter.
"What're you—?" You start before she pushes you back against the counter, her lips on yours. She's up on her tiptoes, mouth hard and insistent against yours. You smile and let your eyes flutter shut, returning the kiss.
She pulls away momentarily, your eyes reopening to find her hopping up onto the counter to sit.
"Fuck, you're so stupidly fucking tall, c'mere," she says, pulling you in again to stand between her legs.
You would make a comment about how maybe she's just really short, but not when her mouth slides against yours, tongue pressing into your own. Her hands glide down your sides, rest against your waist as she tugs you closer. Your hands hold her hips, bringing her to the edge of the counter. You gasp into her mouth when her hand comes up to fist in your hair.
"OH MY FUCKING GOD, GET A ROOM!" your brother yells, banging against the wall of the kitchen. You two jump apart.
"Dude, what the fuck? I thought you were with Ashley?"
"Hi Bellamy!" Sofia greets with an enthusiastic wave, polite as ever, leaning forward on her hands.
"Hey Sof," he greets with a wave of his own as he opens the fridge, grabbing the milk from the door. "And nah, she had some last minute study group thing for midterms sooo..." He shuts the fridge, placing the milk on the counter.
"Are those brownies?" He asks, head motioning toward the bowl of batter.
"Yeah."
"Save me one, and please don't fuck where we eat," he says, putting the milk and cereal away before grabbing a spoon and sauntering back off to his room.
You two burst out laughing the minute he's out of earshot, falling against one another. She kisses you again, softer this time, her hand coming up to cup your jaw.
"I really like you, Tempe," she says, voice barely above a whisper, forehead against yours.
"I really like you too, Sof."
She smiles so bright it could light up a room.
"We really should finish making these brownies though," she adds, sticking her fingers back into the bowl.
"Not if you keep eating all the fucking batter!"
She grins around a mouthful.
A moodboard for Temperance, of sorts.
