this wine tastes like: I just checked my phone, and there weren't any new notifications on it, so I put it down, and then just as I was going to check it again right before I hit the home button a notification popped up. that's what this wine tastes like.

Vina Eguia Rioja Reserva 2007

Needs some aeration; it’s a little harsh straight out of the bottle. Nose is a little closed, cherry. Tobacco, earthy notes, dry. Tannins have a bite. Nice sour cherry acidity.

Edit on Nov 22, 2013: Had this one again and it's wonderful now. The nose is much more interesting, with dusty, earthy almost brown sugar notes and cherry. Sour cherry acidity is still great and the tannins are more muted and fuzzy. Nice perfumed notes exude from the wine when held in the mouth and good mid palate complexity. I have a feeling the savoury notes in the wine will play well with food.
