Temperature afghan supplies: arrived! (lol only four days late)
The idea is you knit or crochet a certain amount every day, and which color you use is based on the high temperature of where you live that day. I’m gonna do granny square around and around, and I’m gonna do some math in a bit here tonight and hoooopefully figure out how much I need to do every day to cover my bed by the end of the year.
How you divide up the temperature is unique to each region (or should be). This is how I evenly divided up temperatures for Portland (OR) and assigned colors (all in F), for KnitPicks Dishie (a cotton yarn that’s pretty soft and inexpensive):
92 and up: Fiesta Red
84-91: Begonia
76-83 Conch
68-75 Creme Brulee
60-67 Honeydew
52-59 Azure
44-51 Blue (lol it’s just called blue)
36-43 Mulberry
35 and below: Eggplant
Edit: IF MY MATH IS RIGHT (it might not be) I should be crocheting twelve “squares” a day, which is to say, 12 sets of three double crochet stitches (and the chains between them), and I will end up with a square afghan roughly 80″x80″.
Worst case scenario I have to stop crocheting early, or keep going past the year mark. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(Notes to self: 1. using a safety-pin stitch marker to mark off where I left off the day before, for those stretches of time when I’m using the same color for days on end. 2. 3ch st between dc at the corners, 1ch st between dc along sides)
