This is the Temple of Promise from 2015 burn. The Temples mean different things to different people. Some people have a strong spiritual connection with it, others use it as a place of contemplation, a place to rest, a place of reflection, a place of rituals/weddings/reunions/etc. The Temple has inspired lots of people from all over. Many write letters to the dead, to themselves, no one, or everyone, or express the inexpressible by bringing an object to burn on Sunday night of Burning Man. Everyone who participates in this find that it works as a spiritual cleansing, a liberator of the mind, & a psychological release. The Temple always stirs awe & inspiration. Even if you don’t connect to it spiritually, it is a magnificent piece of art. To me, the Temple of Promise is a guide. A calming hand, a listening ear, & a reason to never give up. It is a place of transition, a place where we both remember & look ahead. A place of ending & beginning. A place for everyone to gather, to be together, & to reflect. A place of healing. A place dedicated to hopes, dreams, blessings, & memories of everyone on the playa. A place for remembrances, promises & forgiveness. Its to acknowledge where we came from & where we are going. Its a place to address our dishonor, a place to leave it, to release it & let it go. Just like we need a place to honor those things & people we hold most high, we need a space to deal with those people & things we have dishonored, including ourselves. Out there we take time here to reflect on the gifts we have received from those we love, both living & dead, & to consider how these gifts have changed our lives. It offers space to reflect upon how to become more whole. It is a safe haven to wholeheartedly reflect on how to live in divine power rather than letting the holes in our hearts lead us astray from joy. The temple is a place where we can confront the demons of our mind & become one with the greater mind. As human nature, whether we feel with our heart, question with our mind, or attempt to explain our reality… fire has been at our center. At the center of our structure is the fire. What does the temple mean to you? #templeofpromise #burningman (at Burning Man)
