ud's favorite summer activity is the summer carnival down town. it's an annual thing. she tries to go whenever she can.

she doesn't know if she could put any one person before everyone else. what she does know, though, is that she could never put herself before everyone else.

the biggest lie she's ever told was to her friends (and mom) pretending she's just a normal girl without powers and without the responsibilities. that lie didn't last very long.

technically, she's lying to everyone else who isn't in the know about the preternatural et al so maybe that is the biggest lie she's ever told.

if she could make up a new holiday, she'd probably call it "the vacay-holiday" and the traditions would be that people in power - be they at school or at work - would have to give their students or employees paid time off.

her second new holiday would be geared more towards hunters; something about reparations for the countless of lives they destroyed but she'd have to think about that some more.

if ud didn't have all these responsibilities, and if she had time, she'd probably focus about writing stories about the very things she's going through right now. as it stands, she thinks she'll stick with contemporary books, thanks. her life is sci-fi enough.

There are noises ringing in Azrael’s ear. The distinct sound of gunfire, blood being spilled, shouts and cries, a cacophony of chaos. She hears it loud and clear from her perch high above the city, upon the very edge of a skyscraper several blocks away, and immediately, her curiousity is piqued. Oh, what horrible thing could be happening in the filthy, polluted metropolis today. 

The Archangel allows herself to fall gracefully backwards off the building, into the low cloudbank, through which the lights of the city emit a ghostly glow. For a brief moment, there is peace, as the wind rushes past her, then she vanishes amongst the clouds in a glimmer of light, only to reappear outside what appears to be some derelict industrial building. The smell of gunpowder hits her at once, followed shortly after by the familiar odour of blood, then a body comes crashing out of the upstairs window and falls with a wet thud to the ground in front of her. Fascinating.

She steps closer to the body. Dead, definitely dead, he is. Obviously the heavy body armour didn't help him in his endeavour to survive whatever has been tearing its way through the building. Azrael cannot resist the urge to go inside. She glides through the open door like a ghost in the dim light, totally undeterred by the bullets skittering off the walls and floor. There are more bodies, some still alive, some writhing in pain from some rather grizzly injuries. 

Inside, there are boxes and old machinery stored on the ground floor, with metal gangways suspended from the ceiling. That’s when Azrael spots him, the last person she expects to see at the centre of the bloodbath—a boy in a school uniform, embattled and outnumbered on the stairs leading up to the gangway. Alright, he’s...going to need help, judging by the dozen men who are still up and standing. Azrael sighs and inwardly accepts that she’s going to get shot at least once this evening, before teleporting on top of an old, rusty industrial air compressor. She’s fast, so much faster than a human. The soldier below Azrael doesn't even get the chance to turn around before she backhands him in the face with such force that he flies several yards into a crate of cement bags. 

“Might I be of assistance, child?” Azrael inquires with an unnerving calm in her voice.

saw you were looking for headcanon questions / hypothetical scenarios for Nathan so!! if he could sit his parents down and say anything to them, anything at all with absolutely zero consequences or repercussions, what would he say?

Well, first, he'd curse his dad out until he turned blue. Just lay everything bare on the table.

Fuck you for stepping out on Mum. Fuck you for stepping out on Mum after you promised you wouldn't ever again. Fuck you for being such a fucking coward and not being there for me OR Jamie. Fuck you for not listening to me when I needed you. Fuck you for being a selfish prick who can't think any further than his cock, 'cos maybe if you'd stuck around even if it was all shite, maybe if you'd picked me up from school, or didn't yell at Mum, or remembered you had a son for one goddamn minute, maybe none of this—(”this”, a single word holding a countless number of heartaches)⁠—would have happened.  Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, and fuck OFF!

And then he’d stew. And sulk. And I’m sure he’d demand an apology, but whatever apology Mike might give (if Nathan is so lucky to get one) likely wouldn’t feel like enough. As Nathan told Jamie, it’s going to take a lot more than just some nice words to make up for all the missed birthdays, disappointments, and general bullcrap Mike put him through.

For his mum though...? Man. That’s hard to say.

As much as Nathan puts Louise on a pedestal, deep down, she disappoints and hurts him, too, but often in quieter, subtler ways than Mike. Ways that are harder for Nathan to call out, if only because she’s his mum, and that if he doesn’t have her, who does he have?

She hurts him in how she puts so many other things before him. Appearances, reputation, church, her job, her friends, her boyfriends... You name it. Louise might be number one in Nathan’s heart, but it’s hard to say if Nathan has ever been hers. And honestly? Although Mike wasn’t a good dad, Louise and her negligence is indirectly responsible for the majority of Nathan’s trauma and sexual abuse.

He should tell her that, but he wouldn’t, even if there were no repercussions. He wouldn’t have the heart to. Instead, he’d crack a joke that he’s still mad at her for grounding him when he was ten, or not getting him that cool Spider-Man figure he’d wanted for Christmas.
