Baby wearables might just be a big seller in 2015

We’re just 10 days into the New Year and already we are seeing the debut of new wearable technologies. For Example, the TempTraq device is a new technology that can be worn by infants to help caregivers monitor their wellbeing without the use of older technologies such as a thermometer.
If you follow our blog regularly, you will know that the TempTraq device is not the first of its kind; indeed, many other companies have created wearables for infants. Take for example the Mimo Baby Monitor by Intel, or the Sproutling Baby Monitor. Both of these devices feature similar capabilities and are intended for similar purposes. However, what separates these devices from the TempTraq are the addition features that allow caregivers to track the activity levels, sleep patterns, temperature, and so on.
From the perspective of functionality, the TempTraq doesn’t quite measure up to the capabilities of the competition. However, we need to keep in mind the fact that the device was designed with the purpose of monitoring temperature for a 24 hour period when an infant is sick. The device was not designed to do what these other devices are doing. When you consider the device from this perspective, it begins to seem like less of a failing competitor and more of a useful tool for parents of sick infants.
In fact, while the device certainly lacks some of the features of its competitors, there are some plus sides. For example, the device comes in the form of an adhesive patch which can be discretely worn under clothing and does not hinder the movement of the child whatsoever. As a result, the device may be more practical than the bulkier alternatives even if it lacks some of the additional features.
