I've literally been thinking abt this so much and I'm been feeling like this whole axis of oppression correlating with personal worth thing that Tumblr.com has got going on stems from its largely female user base being taught that like self sacrifice was like The Thing to do and then when they get into an arguably more "liberated" space they kind of bring that mindset with them and can't quite disengage it from their political views so you get this like weird fusion of the two thus the wonderful
that, plus “I get treated like this because I’m Bad” and “I get treated like this therefore I’m Good” are two sides of the same “I’m being abused for a reason” coin. that’s a hell of a lot easier to internalize than random cruelty.
