what’s the story behind the amanda apollyon tag?

apollyon (greek word meaning Destroyer) is an alternate name for abaddon, the biblical angel of death, destruction, and the bottomless pit. angel of death imagery is something i've always associated with amanda; "destruction" and "the abyss" sound like epithets for her already. when i was first deciding on my tags i already knew about apollyon/abaddon's general role in the bible, but checking their wikipedia page presented me with this:

"In the homily by Timothy, Abaddon was first named Muriel, and had been given the task by God of collecting the earth that would be used in the creation of Adam. Upon completion of this task, the angel was appointed as a guardian."

which .... yeah.

#the gnostic interpretation of abaddon contains a few more eerie parallels but that's the big one #ask #tenderflint
