Slightly updated PV for the 2nd cour has been released. It's pretty much the same one as the previous, just with some added scenes. The scenes and their translations are below:

Inmei: We, from the Divine World, have decided to destroy the Human World and Youja World in order to rebuild this planet.

Sagume: Would you be willing to lend me your strength?

Ramaga: I will be resurrected, make no mistake....

Trailer for Cour 2 of YSST. I watched it a few times and now I have some questions regarding the planning of this anime. Because I have a feeling there's gonna be some plot holes and contradictions with what we saw in Cour 1. There's only 1 month till the premiere though, so no use trying to speculate much. For those who want to know what the characters are saying, you may see the translation below:

Kaito: Gai....

Musashi: Gai's turned to stone..

Yamato: What's going on?

Seikai Nyudo: There's no reason to be wary now that the prince is no longer with the Samurai Troopers!

Sasuke: What was that? What just happaned?

Inmei: I'm here on behalf of Lady Sagume.

Sagume: Please lend us your strength to purify this planet.

Yamato(?): Why is the Divine World—?

Jun: Perhaps Lady Sagume has given up on humanity..

Inmei: Does the term "Chosen One" sound familiar to you?

Saizo: Lord Ramaga, what do you mean by this?

Inmei: Do you remember?

Shion: Ryusei?? "This pain is a step toward changing tomorrow,"- That's what you told me!

Inmei: This is it for youjakai.

Gomei: To rebuild this planet!

Shion: "Rebuild"?

Musashi: "The planet?"

Shimei: Would you please get out of my way?

Gaimei: What a weak attack.

Young Gai: I'm going to become stronger.

Sasuke: I'm not going to lose.... TO THAT BASTARD!!!

Kaito(?): I'll hand over the Armor of the Supreme Emperor. But not to you.

Inmei: What a foolish act.

Kaito: COME BACK TO US, OUR HERO!!

I just realized that, because Cour 2 won't take place in a youja-infested apocalypse, the troopers can explore more areas in the human world instead of being stuck on a train. I hope they're shown going to different locations before inevitably getting stuck in youjakai for the rest of the cour. If youjakai or tendokai HAVE to be the majority of where YSST takes place now, then they better look interesting.

An underrated aspect of anime is the environment and backgrounds. If it's all bland-looking, the world doesn't feel alive. I expect tendokai to be beautiful, but I also hope youjakai isn't just some barren Hueco Mundo ass wasteland. It was said to be a beautiful place as well in the original YST so maybe we'll get to see some of that?

Re: my last post because I still can't get over it lmao. If you've ever watched Yu Yu Hakusho Abridged, there's a scene where Seiryu (from the Four Saint Beasts arc) is trying really hard to convince Yusuke and his team that he's a dragon. And when Yusuke replies "No, you're just a really tall blue guy," Seiryu is like "F*CK YOU I'M A DRAGON"

THAT'S what the whole deal with the Four Beasts feels like 🤣🤣💀💀

So, Yashima no Sagume from the Divine World is here. Can't believe they just introduced Tendokai like that; the main characters should ask for their help more. They could zap Ramaga at any time but won't, probably because of "neutrality" or something. Maybe they have an agenda too, who knows.

I'm not sure if Sagume Yashima is the right way to phrase her name— Sagume of Yashima might be better. Yashima (八島), consists of the character for "eight" (八), which is a sacred number within Japanese mythology, and the character for "island/territory" (島). It usually indicates a great number/quantity, and has been used as a classical name for Japan i.e., "a country made up of many islands". In the chronicles Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, the Eight Great Islands, Oyashima (大八島), are said to be: Awaji, Shikoku, Okinoshima, Kyushu, Ikishima, Tsushima, Sadoshima, & Honshu.

Additionally, Sagume could be a reference to Ame no Sagume (天探女), a mythological figure responsible for the divination of fortune/misfortune. According to the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, her bearings of omens can turn the tide of situations. She is also sometimes described as a yokai due to the 探女 part of her name possibly shifting over time into the word jaki (邪鬼), vengeful spirit. In Buddhism, the term Amanojaku (天邪鬼) refers to a malevolent demon that leads people astray from the path to enlightenment. Therefore, the two words are oftentimes conflated when bringing mythology into the mix i.e., Amenosagume vs Amanojaku (天探女 vs 天邪鬼). There's a lot to read up on about Amanojaku, so I won't include it all here, but this could possibly be a hint to Yashima no Sagume's true stance on the Youjakai vs Ningenkai conflict.

All that said, since the official YSST Twitter/X account only used katakana to spell this deity's name, take this all as just my personal assumption for now. Fun fact: Yashima no Sagume's seiyuu is Maya Sakamoto, who is the wife of Nezu's seiyuu, Kenichi Suzumura ^_^

Inmei's introduction. I actually like his design (funny, since I don't usually like celestial designs based on the Yayoi period) and his voice actor, Takehito Koyasu, so I don't mind his character. Just maybe wait a bit until you bring him in lol. Anyway, let's see what Yashima no Sagume orders him to do next. Tendokai is definitely playing the long game, as is Youjakai.

ALSO, also.... we all know Takehito Koyasu has voiced many iconic anime characters, but did you know he voiced another character named Gai? And this character (the deutragonist no less) is from none other than Legend of Heavenly Sphere Shurato, another Saint Seiya-inspired show, just like Samurai Troopers. It was his first role back in 1989. Apparently, he didn't have a good experience during the recording and refuses to speak about it. But just treat it as a rumor since I'll need to find an official source where Koyasu himself stated that.

I guess those who theorized that the Sword of Domination corrupted Shion into striking his teammates were right. Nobody is fit to wield it yet. And in Episode 9, Shion is gonna confront Naste about the failed retrieval mission where he'll probably find out the harsh truth :(

The Four Beasts are supposed to be based on the Chinese Zodiac, and they are: Tiger (Inmei), Horse (Gomei), Snake (Shimei), & Boar (Gaimei). There's one problem though: most of their designs don't resemble those animals at all. The only one who does is Shimei, and that's only because homegirl got a literal snake wrapped round her punani. The other 3 require some suspension of disbelief. Inmei might look like a tiger due to how his facial markings look like tiger stripes. But Gomei really does not look like a horse. You could maybe say his bangs look like horse's ears and his legs are long & thick like one. And Gaimei only resembles a boar due to his tusks, but otherwise, he's literally just an orc. Now I do like their designs, don't get me wrong. I like how they have a uniform theme but don't all wear the same clothes, how they're based on Jomon to Kofun period fashion/artifacts (especially Gomei, who is based on dogu), and how they all have a blue gem on their chest. They just don't look like zodiac animals lol.
