Episode 22 Rewatch

I forgot that Kamio Akira canonically runs fast enough to keep up with a bicycle for an extended distance, holy shit.

Not only that, but he’s still able to talk while running at this pace...

For reference - my best guess is that Momo is going, say, 15-20 mph on the bike. On foot, an adult man could sprint at 15+ mph but not for that long. (When he and Momo finally do stop, Kamio isn’t even sweaty or out of breath, lol.)

Two other things from this episode -

- Kaidoh may intimidate other students into tears without saying a word, but he gets visibly flustered by adults saying he’s a “fine young man” and a “cute kid,” aw.

- Hyoutei is already here! I don’t think they’re going to commit to this level of sleaze for Atobe, though. Iirc they walk it back pretty quickly into more of an over-the-top arrogance.

I fan girl because I LOVE ATOBE AND YES KAMIO SAVE ANN AND GET ALL THE HUGS AND KISSES PLEASE BECAUSE I SHIP KAMIO X ANN LIKE NO ONES BUISNESS. I cosplayed Ann once with Hubby as Momo but our friend cosplayed Kamio and I was so happy.

She wasn’t in the manga. But I like her role in this scene. The other ichinen were wondering where Ryoma had gone, but Ryuzaki knew exactly where he is. She didn’t really disturb Ryoma’s warm-up. She just tells Ryoma the results and  her own musings. She keeps tabs on the rankings of not only Seigaku but of other schools. It was like she helped Ryoma meditate too. It is a pretty calm scene.
