I'm cool with WTA doing a media rebrand, and maternity leave, but can we talk about how unprotected female tennis players are? like everytime I see them be harassed it just feels like this situation waiting to escalate and the organization has done absolutely nothing about that.
I remember when Caro posted all the shit she got after losing a match because people bet on her and they lost money, threats and awful comments, the constant racism black female players receive online and offline .
Then what happened to Raducanu which was just scary, like I dont even know how much of that she's had to endure, and last night Mirra being threatened and insulted after she lost the match, this random fucking guy showing up to scream shit at Iga when she was training.
Do I have to point out that tennis has a history of leaving female tennis players unprotected and them receiving all kinds of violence from people who feel entitled to do whatever they want because they're public people?
I'm scared all the time that something is gonna happen, and then they're going to be like "ugh we should've seen this coming! we promise to change but this time for real!"

okay my first love was casper ruud <3 he’s just so sweet and the memes are top tier tbh. i’m still not over the t rex suit lmao and ALSO i am severely, debilitatingly attracted to those photos of him in a suit dear god save me 🥵 but fr tho i watched the us open replay and he had my heart in a chokehold as soon as he willingly gave up a point when he didn’t save it from that second bounce. idk i just rly appreciate things like that 🥹
and THEN in the past two months i’ve grown super attached to andy murray sjdhdjdhdj at first it was bc i wanted to see how he was doing with his whole inspirational comeback thing (bc im a sucker for those kinds of stories tbh). but then that devolved into just being in awe of the way he can never have a simple match 😭 LIKE there always has to be suspense it’s so fucking funny
and lastly my mother and i spent way too much time making fun of daniil medvedev’s hairline and at somepoint my insults became increasingly fond. idk i’m loving the whole octopus 🐙 defense shit he has going !! and he played so well against djokovic in the astana open (? i think) before retiring so tbh i was kinda sold from there
