f1 ppl idk how many of you care about tennis but crazy stuff is happening at the french open rn with the world no.1 and no.2 (sinner and alcaraz) facing each other in their first ever grand slam final together, they're now 4 hrs 45 mins into the 5th set, they're basically chasing each other right down to the finish line, and they've just passed a record for longest match at roland garros ever. historical. the new gen is fully HERE

This might be my top Fedal fic of all time! Set where Roger has some head trauma offscreen and loses a lot of his memory. By a lot of his memory I mean tennis (literally his entire life) and Rafa. It’s a little sad but it has a happy ending, I promise 🙏

1-800 BIG FOUR by Rathenon

This one is a chatfic series with some background Novandy… it might sound really cringe but it’s what makes it funny! Basically Novak and Andy notice Rafa and Rogers mutual pining for each other and decide to do something about it. Do be warned, it has mentions to the nextgen players at that time, some of whom are disgraced, but you can skip over those parts. If you want to see Novak saying “get rekt” and Roger using the stupid pc text emojis like they’re kids on Discord, I highly recommend :). Rathenon has a lot of really good Fedal fics as well! This one has Sincaraz in it i’m sorry I know this is a rarepair blog 😭😭 but I really liked it because it shows the parallels between the two rivalries. It’s where Carlos goes to talk to Rafa about his little thing with his rival. rafa sits in his little chair and has his flashbacks to the golden age of tennis

This one is just pure silliness :) Rafa is apparently scared of spiders and comes to sleep in Roger’s hotel room. I liked this one because it shows the side of Roger not really depicted in most fics, his overthinking side. Usually he’s the one with absolute certainty in everything he does, but Rafa is what messes him up and causes him to doubt himself.

Arguably the most famous Fedal fanfic of all time, created by the GOAT Mystivy themself 🥹 I don’t wanna spoil this one if people haven’t read it yet lol, but it seems like you are acquainted with tennis rpf 😝

I think the summary of the fic explains the best:

They say goodbye in the locker room in Prague. 

All the while, Roger’s tiny inward, ongoing crisis reaches a kind of crescendo. He thinks it started on Friday, or maybe at Rafa’s academy last year, or maybe even in 2004. He’s not even really sure what exactly his crisis is about, or how to put words to it. Not that he's meaning to sound so dramatic. Anyway, it’s manageable. He’s doing great.

His fingers go from Rafa’s shoulder to his elbow and he gives his arm a squeeze.

He wants to say: “I’ll miss you,” and “A lot,” and “Too much.” But, obviously, he doesn’t want to embarrass himself.

And that’s some of my favorite Fedal fics!! Honestly, this rivalry means a lot to me, and I love how different peopke have different perspectives of it. Where my parents grew up the only sports they could watch were lowk cricket, tennis, and badminton. Throughout my childhood Rafa and Roger were like these mythical creatures of some of the best athletes in the world. It’s been 3 years since i started locking in on following tennis, but ik for a lot of people they grew up watching Fedal play almost every single time :) Thank you for the asks anons!
